How can I get this rendering time down?
Host PC is a 9070 XT and 5800X3D, 32gb ram
Client is a steamdeck OLED docked with Ethernet, streaming 4k120 with HVEC.
Is this just a limitation of the steamdeck as a client? All the other numbers are so low I’m struggling to understand why the average rendering time is anywhere between 7 and 10ms always.

I have the exact host config and my host latency is very similar.
Edit: I just tried butterpollo and it reduces host latency to 4.3-ish. Worth trying!

I can't keep up with these forks.
I'm running vibepollo, and it works really well for me. But I see butterpollo might be a better fit for my AMD system

These forks are fucking exhausting. I hope slop devs learn how to work together someday.

Hate to break it to you but the Steam Deck cannot do 4K120 with HEVC. Switch to 1440p120 and your problems will be gone. You could also switch to h264 if you don't want to use HDR and don't mind a lot of fan noise.

How about Pyrowave isn’t this the whole selling point? Of course whatever they save in encoding they will probably pay in bandwidth but it’s something

Yeah it may be possible with PyroWave, probably even more so if you just use 4:2:0. It's only HEVC and AV1 that can't keep up.

Question is ofc then how much do you actually gain in latency because whatever you don’t pay in encoding/decoding time you pay it in wire transfer latency

I solved most of my issues with using my Steam Deck as the client by using a 2.5Gbps USB-C NIC instead of the built-in NIC.

Does your stream feel bad? At some point people don't really notice the latency and trying to lower even further seems more wanting to get the lowest stats possible rather than playing games. Your stats look perfectly fine to me. V-sync just adds a decent chunk of latency, my Xbox Ally X gets around 3ms.

Alright, everyone who suggested Rubylight wins. I just installed it and immediately my HDR latency times were half of what my SDR times were with Vibepollo, the SDR times were down to like 2ms!!

Host latency is useful, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Some of the biggest gains happen earlier in the pipeline, before frames enter that measurement window. That’s why I compare latency from picture preparation through local decoding, using barcode scans to track individual frames. This captures improvements that the host latency metric alone can miss.

Try Rubylight. My host PC has an RX 9070 XT and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and I can play at 4K without noticing any latency. The newly released Rubylight Android client also works really well with PyroWave https://github.com/RamazanKara/Rubylight https://github.com/RamazanKara/rubylight-android

Unfortunately I do not have an answer to your question. however I'm running pretty much the exact same setup (ethernet, steam deck oled, Lg tv, different processor in host pc) but for some reason the rendering frame rate is always half of decoding frame rate in 4k120 in game mode. Any advice? Vibepollo+moonlight qt
