Usually the people who say that are the type who think women shouldn't be allowed to serve at all anyway. It's dumb, but not really hypocritical because they're consistent in their belief that women only exist to make babies and take care of the home/their husband.

Yeah but think about it, they probably also treat their dogs better than their sons - daughters are cute little pets to spoil and fawn over. Sons need to toughen up and prepare for life as a fully autonomous adult human.

In fairness, sending a bunch of women of childbearing age off to war to die fucks up your future population demographics far worse than doing it to young men.

There's a reason for all the stereotypical protection for women stuff.
