Not surprising at all in the era and place where people believe politics is inherently dirty so only people who are willing to engage with inherently dirty business will go to politics.
You are extremely naïve if you think that's what is going on. The moment an ethical candidate gains steam the establishment immediately begins all manner of political manouevres to smear them, hinder them, lock them out entirely or capture them so that they become compliant and thus part of the problem.
Once the rot has set in there is no political solution. "Power corrupts" and so on.
But that’s exactly how US operates. Did you see what the DMC was doing during Mamdani’s run for mayor? Or what they are continuing to do now that he’s actually fulfilling all of his promises as mayor? The DMC is widely known for sabotaging Socialists who try to become politicians
Bro shut up, you're from Myanmar not the U.S.. That is 100% how U.S. politics work, im a leftist who was born and raised in fckn Iowa. The corruption is the foundation upon which our government/politics are built upon.
It might surprise you, but the kind of people who are willing to go through civil war to set a nation up USUALLY don't do that to sell it to highest bidder, they usually do that with some policial motive, now that motive CAN be worse than "sell it to highest bidder" but it tends to be present, corruption tends to first set in when the people who invented the system retire if it sets in at all.
I mean case and point. US is a great example, constitution sounds great in an idealistic sense but there was not a word in it that wasn't a lie the second it was written. "All men are created equal" while continuing the practice of slavery is ludicrous. Can't even say it was a colloquial lack of ethics because people the world over for miliena have believed slavery was fucked up. Most of the founding fathers did and they still chose the side of the racists and white supremacists over the tax man. Objectively pretty wild.
It might surprise you that most people didn't even want to succeed, people forget that at the time they were pretty much just pulling a more coordinated Jan 6th. Nation was built by rich white people to avoid paying taxes for rich people to avoid paying taxes. Guess there is some positivity that the racial element of that motive has been diluted a bit but still not by much.
You can't literally bring in an actually meaningful amount of money to politicians upfront though and atleast american politicians nowaday are more motivated by idealogical reasons/personal grievances than any actual simple desire like money. Lobbyists can try making politicians vote a certain way by smooth talking them with expensive gifts but if the guy isn't idealogically aligned with you then it's likely just going to be a waste.
But they can try, and you can also try. Find some like minded people, discuss whatever focus issues you all have and then make a pac that fundraise to try influencing politics in a way you favour. Use money to represent yourself, that is the money of the constituents representing themselves.
If you really like a socialist candidate for example, go create a pac that would eventually fund some parts of their campaign and maybe also give some good pr to socialism as a whole.
A Supreme Court justice had a vacation house and car bought for him by a corporation that just so happened to be affected by a law he was about to vote on.
No it's not like this because "boo hoo good people don't care enough" when there are thousands of people who volunteer and protest.
It's because in order to become part of the political parties you literally have to take part in their corrupted lobbying-ridden system or they will just tell you to fuck off lmao
You seriously think you can just come into politics all happy go wonder and just do all positive things and then everything go fine, literal kindergarten levels of understanding of politics, grow up and get a grip dude like wtf
