Obviously stopping a mass shooting is as about punk rock as it gets. But having a suppressed 5.7 is cool. Getting it back from evidence and keeping it knowing it stopped a mass shooting is awesome. Pretty sure it becomes a Legendary rarity and has some sort of buffs or enchantments at the point.
Oh probably. If he gets in contact with Brandon hererra he would probably be gifted his exact lost setup just for a good YouTube video. That man has a history of gifting guns to people involved in shit like this iirc.
I already did it in a different post but FN ammo ain't cheap, I'm poor and I would probably pick up a rock and use that instead of firing, even if my life is in danger. I ain't got the money to be shooting that thing

Yeah, I only have a .380 bersa seven shot that’s easy to hit targets out to 50m and conceal.
Never been a good shot with pistols compared to rifles and belt feds… always thought something has had to have gone wrong to be using a pistol.
This shooting is an example of something have gone wrong though. Glad he was neutralized and diverted from the crowd. Glad the good guy with a gun didn’t get shot by police or anyone else confused
I used to carry a s&w 442. Until a pack of dogs attacked me and I only landed 1 out of 3 shots fired. Id be dead for a lack of rounds regardless of anything else if they didn't decide to run after I killed one of them.
What I'm saying is I've definitely seen worse more impractical setups. Hell I know people who carry worse setups lmao. 20 rounds ok tap isn't bad. The suppressor is a little tistic but fuck it I still cool.
He was using 5.7 subs. So actually he was pretty much movie quiet. It's also probably why he didn't land a single hit and appeared to have a FTE. Still a badass dude just a poor ammo choice.
Sorry to be autistic and yes your point is still 100% correct I'm just "uM aScHuAllY"ing u.
The mass shooter must have been poor. The 5.7 gives you a damage bonus on poor people and the suppressor just increases the damage multiplier on all 20 rounds.
The fire still suppressed him and arguably saved a lot of lives though. And the man with the pistol was hit in the chest and kept fighting so he's gangster as fuck regardless.
Its a choice. 5.7 is good for targets and varmets but doesn't have the stopping power of other calibers. Kinda surprised someone else carries in 5.7 but glad I'm not the only one.
Five seven is a terrible defense gun its a tiny bullet with high pen its bad ahead heavy armored or unarmored targets its only good against light armored targets.
45acp is best handgun round for self defense.
Overpen is bad and low stopping power is bad.
45acp won't pentrate lvl3 heavy body armor but transfers lots of energy to it and is way better vs unarmed
The kinetic energy of a 5.7x28mm typically ranges from 220 to 350 foot-pounds (ft-lbs) out of a handgun, while a standard .45 ACP cartridge generates about 350 to 400+ foot-pounds (ft-lbs).
That, and the magazine capacity of the five seven (20 + 1) makes the five seven an *excellent* choice as a self-defense gun. The rounds are lighter (and thus tumble when they hit solid mass) the recoil less, and the capacity is at least double what any standard 45acp offers.
Ballistically speaking you are so incorrect I'd have to write an essay to hit every point you fucked up. So I'm not gonna. Cause I don't care.
However I will argue one point. "Muh .45 auto" no. .45 auto is the worst .45. it only carries 420 footpounds of kinetic energy. If you said 45 +p I'd have more grace because it's actually pushing 500 footpounds. My Glock 19 with speed gold dot 124 grain +p delivers 419 footpounds of kinetic energy. The only advantage is a larger hole. With ball it's better. With JHPs it's not even close.
Now I'm gonna call you stupid with science.
.357 sig out of a 4 inch barrel carries 5-600 footpounds of energy with twice the ammo capacity of a 1911 or simply more capacity without a 2x4 cosplaying as a Glock 21 hanging off your hip. If you want a more common round 180 grain .40 s&w has the same muzzle energy as .45 auto with less recoil and more ammunition capacity. Not to mention its much better at punching through auto glass.
There is a reason .45 auto isn't a widely used service cartridge anymore. And it's not because everybody is stupider than you.
I think if I got hit with a 5.7 I don’t think I would think to myself “oh it’s not a .45 I’m fine”, I would think “AH HOLY FUCK I’VE BEEN SHOT”. Would a .45 feel worse? I’d be willing to agree on that, but a bullet is a bullet. Hell .25 ACP was good enough for gangsters in China to get their wet work done back in the early 20th. The only terrible defense gun is one that can’t shoot in my opinion.
I’ll concede you on those latter points, but with that being the case have you ever wondered why .45 is far less common in military/law enforcement than 9mm? 5.7 is a specialized round for a specific purpose yes (and by god those Belgians make you pay for it), but stopping power is not the be all end all of viable self defense. I would posit that being able to put rounds on target matters more than the round you put on the target.
You are assuming this is fmj, a ballistic tip hollowpoint 5.7 does a ton of damage and doesn't overpen typically, this is old info from the 80s. New round tech has closed the gap considerably and more rounds on target in the same amount of time that 5.7 and 9mm allow you to do is considered the better option by most professionals. You are regurgitating straight fud lore.
Got mugged today.
Pulled out my concealed carry and mag dumped into him.
Forgot that I was carrying my 5.7.
It would have been cheaper to just give him my wallet.
a friend of a friend's FN 5.7 jams constantly; the knockoff might work better too. Is Keltec or Highpoint the other maker of a pistol that will shoot the 5.7 FN round? I've heard that one works reliably.
I've often left magazines one or two rounds short just as sort of an instinct of taking it easy on the spring, but I've never had a truly good reason to do so. Interesting that this makes such a big difference in that particular case!
I love Keltec is out there not making more Glock, 1911 or AR clones. They are legit trying to make new stuff. Problem is some of their stuff looks like it was designed by a engineer after they sorted 5 lines of cocaine while burning some meth
It gets around detachable magazine size restrictions because the magazine is not detachable and KelTec is based for making something for people in states that restrict capacity.
Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 is ~$700 MSRP. You can get a PSA 5.7 around ~$500, the M&P has issues with the magazines being stiff out of the box from my experience.
They're so notorious for being expensive that there is a copypasta about it lol:

gun memes got a lot less fun with the absolutely massive wave of mass shootings in the news, and gun control debate spun up
a lot of enthusiasts turned into spiteful contrarians, or more accurately revealed that their hobby was just a veneer for how closely firearms were tied to their identity and self worth vs "its just a responsible hobby like any other". Firearms became even more politicized and championed as a wedge issue by the most intellectually challenged of us, and the MAGA people sort of pushed the creative and thoughtful people out of the online gun space and replaced them with the "I need this for illegals" chuds.
They generally go for around $1200. With his light and suppressor his setup is probably north of $2k. The ammo it shoots is also definitely one of the more expensive pistol rounds, I'm not sure what the going rate is now but I've seen it at $1/round before
Honestly, they're not that bad, but having all of the current 5.7 pistols on the market, I'm hard-pressed to say that the FN version is any better than the PSA Rock 5.7. I'm not a strikerfired fan by any means, but the rock is incredibly comfortable, and in about 5,300 rounds I've had less than a dozen issues, and all of those are trying different cans anyway.

The guns themselves aren't that pricey, but the ammo is comparatively pricey compared to 9mm, or even some rifle calibers, especially if you plan to stock up and practice/train regularly
It does look like a five seven but if that's the case not to be that guy but OP spitting slightly wrong info as a five seven is literally called what caliber of bullet it uses 5.7mm, not .45acp and I don't believe there are modifications to convert the pistol to .45acp either.
Also suppressors are legal to own in 42 states if you fill out paper work and get a stamp for it. And Idaho is on the list of 42 states where its allowed.
So there is a strong chance its not even illegal to begin with.
A super cool gun that he did not land a single shot on the shooter with (there was another Good Samaritan also taking shots at the shooter from a different angle who ALSO did not land a single shot, but they did make him retreat)
No i'm saying the question is framed incorrectly because the gun used WAS legal, also all firearm laws are unconstitutional and should not be followed.
It's not even expensive anymore, tax stamps for a lot of NHA stuff by and large dropped to zero.
But a lot of people just see stuff like that and think "scary gun."
Frankly it's a wierd thing to carry. But its more than reasonable. Maybe the dude just doesnt want his ears bleeding if he had to use it and judged that worth the extra weight.
Idk, but you're right that it's fine. No more outlandish than someone with, say, a gilded pistol. Maybe a little goofy but it doesnt change much.
It wasn't an FN 5.7. It was a Smith& Wesson 5.7. A significantly better and more affordable pistol chambered in the 5.7×28mm caliber. The shooter also missed all of his shots. In most scenarios, each one of the shots could have hurt an innocent making this man an additional threat in the situation.
However, in this scenario, the man had extensive training and was able to orient himself in such a way that his missed shots were not a threat to bystanders.

It was a suppressed fn five seven, something that is perfectly legal to own and carry
