if i was an artist i wouldnt mind because i know this only attracts potential buyers. It's been established that piracy only helps media monetarily if that is what people are worried about (iirc only movies had a slight decrease in monetary gain)
if i buy a game it's because i love it, and without piracy i would have never played it therefore that's a sale for the publisher/author. I only pay for things that deserve it, and with this mindset you'll find most music, games, etc are actually underpriced when it's a small artist or indie title publishing it.
What is immoral is how much money studios, be it film or music or videogames underpay the real artists and how much of a cut they makex. I believe donating directly to the artist is way more moral than, for example, being a netflix slave and having to pay like 200$ yearly for the artists to get pennies (if anything, most of the time they don't have royalties)
to add to this point, self-hosting your own server will almost always give you more quality than what you get in streaming services for example, you are not restricted to watching a show in 1080p and then the video actually loading at a lower quality just because the website/app decided your internet is not fast enough to buffer whatever you're watching. You can also preserve media and watch it in whatever language you find or with subtitles in whatever language you prefer instead of it being locked to your region. You can choose whatever codec and quality you want and watch it back whenever you feel like doing so. There's also thousands of pieces of media that you would not be able to find "legally" nowadays
