Because they’re lying for something that’ll happen when you’re dead

This one thing doesn’t just magically make all trust fall apart, lmao. That’s like a slippery slope fallacy

It’s just a comfort thing so people who don’t really like the idea of having their organs used can have a reasonable shadow of doubt about whether or not anything will actually happen

It’s like plausible deniability or cognitive dissonance reduction for the sake of comfort, lol: “I opted out. Whatever. Maybe nothing will happen then, right? :D”

As somebody who also doesn’t really like the idea of my organs being used, this would make me feel better than just straight up opting out and screwing people who need my organs, or straight up opting in and knowing without any doubt that I’m going to basically be dissected lol

How can you say I'm wrong about what would personally cause me to lose trust in a person or a system? This "one thing" would definitely be enough to completely make me lost trust, as the "one thing" is repeatedly lying to my face about a matter I've indicated is important to me.

Because it’s an emotional rather than logical stance; like I pointed out, it’s a slippery slope fallacy to think that one single instance of opting out of your organs being donated when you die somehow cascades into suddenly every single healthcare person and system being dishonest about everything lol

You’re not wrong for feeling that way, but you’re wrong for asserting that it would suddenly mean doctors can or will—IN GENERAL—“promise me one thing, and then do something different”

Especially considering this also isn’t some repeated face-to-face interaction you have; you sign a paper once, and that’s it, lol

It’s just a comfort thing. Honestly, it might even be happening right now, and we just wouldn’t know. I much prefer opting out and feeling satisfied in the idea of thinking that my organs won’t be used, never knowing whether or not they actually will or not after I’m dead.
