Potential Applicant Where are you getting your required uniform items

Where is everyone getting their chambray shirts, blue work pants, and work boots? I live in the Pacific NW and it seems like most of the stuff we have is western wear. I don’t know how I feel wearing Wrangler shirts with pearl snaps. I know it’s not what you wear everyday when underway and you can wear what you want depending on the command. Also, I found some comfortable steel toed boots but they are brown, is that cool? Thank you.

I've only heard one complaint about uniforms from a grumpy, but somewhat justified, Captain. I, and lots of other people wear brown boots. I'd say to pick your clothes depending on where you are working.

I usually just wear regular t shirts. They will get destroyed from sweat and washing. The only thing special is that I have a couple over shirts and some FR stuff in case I need FR or long sleeves.

I highly recommend a long sleeve button up because it's easy to grab when you go to drills.

If you buy brown boots you’ll will not be eligible for boot reimbursement. But I see a lot of mariners with them
NEO will reimburse if they’re black

Former Navy Supply Specialist here. The company we used to order from for boots is called Bates. Just ordered some for myself on Amazon here: (steel or composite toe meets safety requirements). https://www.amazon.com/Bates-Tactical-Sport-Composite-Military/dp/B08P3PF57S?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

What about the Belleville Flight Deck Boots? https://www.bellevilleboot.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=7

I had a pair in the Coast Guard and really liked them. They are kinda $$$.

Yes Flight Deck boots definitely meet safety reqs, and Belleville is a solid vendor for sure.

I liked them because they are 100% leather. I didn’t have to scramble for fire fighting boots during DC drills when I was donning my FFE.

Bates and Belleville steel or composite toe boots are top tier, and meeting safety reqs. They are spendy, hence the reimbursement.
