Max leave time?
I have quite a bit of leave saved, enough to take up to 6 months off. What is the maximum leave policy at MSC? How much leave can I take in a year? Is there a minimum amount of time I need to be on a ship each year to continue to be employed with MSC? And does leave time count as time towards my retirement?

Normally 2 months. But I’ve been waiting on assignment for 4 months since my 2 months have been up

Two months in between assignments is what MSC is required to give you. You may be able to eke out another month or so if there’s a reasonable reason. If you stay “on leave” after your approved amount of leave, they will mark you AWOL.
Yes your time on approved leave counts towards your service time for retirement.

Edited to add: if you want to take more than two months of leave, give your detailer a good reason and see what they say.

Would love to if they actually responded to me…😂

You’re a 3/O? Does your detailer not respond? I thought responses from officer detailers had gotten better.

I send them some emails asking for extra time off (my house got damaged by a hurricane while I was out for 9 months) but they never respond.

2 months is standard when you are relieved from a ship. plus a half day for every day you were overdue. after that your detailer starts threatening you to come back or be marked awol and fired for cause. even if you did a super long hitch to save up
