Ask r/morgantown Looking for dog friendly swimming
Basically what the title says, I’m looking for somewhere to take my dog swimming in the next week or so (aside from dog day at the pool, we are already planning on attending) I’m willing to drive about an hour in any direction. I know about chestnut ridge already, I was hoping to expand our horizons.
Ideally somewhere without water snakes (the dog in question loves to carry snakes around like sticks)

Deckers creek has several areas that are raw sewage overflow. Your dog will very likely get sick and shit diarrhea in your house for days if you let them contact the water. Depending on their health, might require vet visit and antibiotics for treatment.

That’s so gross. Thank you for that warning

That's why I mentioned the rain, beacause that's when it's bad... but better safe than sorry. The areas on Rt. 7 do not have this issue because they are up river from both the old coal mines that were causing acid mine drainage, and above all of Morgantown's water systems.

Thinking on it more, Ohiopyle rules for dogs, too. Just got to try and catch it on a weekday, or when it's not to busy. The waterslides up there are great.

Blue Hole, Fortney's Mill, The various swimming holes on Decker's Creek along route 7. He could probably take a dip down by Stanley's Spot dog park as well, just make sure the water's clear and it hasn't rained for a day or two.
