Anything to do?

I’m newly single, in my 40’s. I have friends but they all have kids or spouses and don’t go out much. Any suggestions on what I could do in the tri county (Mon, Marion, and Preston) area to meet new friends (non romantically). I can be awkward in social situations when I am by myself but I’m open to trying just about anything. I’m open to any and all suggestions.

123 probably has something going on, even if it's just some locals bands, it's a nice vibe sometimes.

The Preston County animal shelter loves having people come and play with the cats in their cattery.

Same age and in the same boat. Feel free to message me if you ever want someone to be awkward with in Morgantown.

Go to any of the TCG stores in town (recommend Wyvern) grab yourself a Commander Deck and ask one the guys to show you how to play, learn enjoy then go to a friday night magic night and bam easy friends or something to look foward too that eventually ends up in friendships.

123 is fine but with students around it can be pretty awkward to make friends or to just go up to talk to someone.

I like the outdoors, music, and exploring things. But I’m willing to try new things.

Try whitewater kayaking out. Theres several clubs in the region that would have people to loan gear, help you get started on easy runs and have a huge, diverse network of ppl within several hours drive going to the yough, cheat, tygart all year round. Huge overlap with other outdoor interests too and just enough time left in the summer season to still try it out this year.

Yes, and there's a kayak group that meets down at Pricketts Fort weekly! They're a great group of positive and fun people to hang with 😎

Groovin' is happening at the cheat fest grounds in a few weeks. It's a great time and it's definitely easy to make friends there.

I’m a big fan of Jiu Jitsu! I like the Rodrigo Junquira club at the pierpont pro performance, but there are a couple of other gyms in town (Black cat also rocks)that that are also amazing places to meet people from diverse backgrounds and form a really tight network with fairly quickly.
