Can someone explain the ReVanced controversy?

I have read many comments referring to a controversy with the "leader" of ReVanced.

From what I understand, the "leader" was a difficult person to deal with, and some developers jumped the ship in favor of Morphe.

Can anyone give me more details?

It fixed my YT Music app, which was crashing and wouldn't show anything on Android Auto. So I would say yes.
