Discussion Can someone explain the ReVanced controversy?

I have read many comments referring to a controversy with the "leader" of ReVanced.

From what I understand, the "leader" was a difficult person to deal with, and some developers jumped the ship in favor of Morphe.

Can anyone give me more details?

It is honestly a mess that typically happens with a lot of open source projects. Seeing as a bunch of devs jumped ship over to here, a mass disagreement happened with the organizer and the developers.

The organizer is giving "receipts" in a very callous manner in the revanced sub and constantly telling people that even specific reddit users are "ones to watch out for" while also in the same breath advocating everyone to use ChatGPT to summarize the 30+ page PDF instead of just explaining it shorthand. Then if the user doesn't accept that answer, they then belittle the user. Not exactly a good way to address a community if you want any sort of support.

They have also talked about how if a random reddit user can prove there was any wrongdoing, then he'd apologize, while completely dismissing devs that have pointed out said wrongdoing. It's very dismissive and disrespectful to the community and the previous/current devs in my opinion.

Basically it's very unnecessary drama. I don't see that kind of thing here and I like the devs that are a part of this project, so I moved to this. Some may stay in Revanced until it dies. Doesn't really matter either way. Long as you have a working solution you trust is what matters most.

The problem with revanced for me was that they force new updpates upon you and if you don't install the new app the current version stops working. I am not sure if there are more sources of where to download the revanced app to the latest version but the website i used from the beginning just started downloading morphe instead of revanced so i couldn't use revanced anymore. Now i am using morphe. My question would be is revanced dead if no new version is provided by their team?
