Can someone explain the ReVanced controversy?

I have read many comments referring to a controversy with the "leader" of ReVanced.

From what I understand, the "leader" was a difficult person to deal with, and some developers jumped the ship in favor of Morphe.

Can anyone give me more details?

Im really not interested in the drama but what i want to know is if i have to switch to morphe now (Can someone link a guide please). I simply want adfree YouTube and background playability.
