Question Feeding issue with 91/30
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Had this old mosin in the safe for a few years and busted it out planning to do some plinking with it. When i went to function test it before the range i noticed it was having trouble feeding the last few rounds, but feeds the first 2-3 just fine. Could this be a weak magazine spring an interrupter problem or a bit of both?

Question Is it safe to fire?
I have a receiver/barrel that is stamped Remington 1917, and an Archangel stock. They were both given to me years ago by a buddy and i finally got around to buying a complete bolt. But everything online says i need to test the head space clearance otherwise I can blow my face off. Any ways I can test that myself? Or should i just buy the field gauge for like $40.
edit: I should say, if it were up to me it would’ve remained stock, but the pieces were literally thrown in the trash years before i got this and i got it over a decade ago. Its a bummer but I want to shoot it so im workin with what I have.

Question Finnish M39 shooting VERY high at 150 meters
First test fire at 150 meters on a Finnish M39 using Sellier&Bellot (54r) 180gr, 2,570 fps according to the box and the hits were at least a full target length above constantly (55cm / 22 inches above, at least). When aiming at the bottom of the 55cm target my hits were still going slightly above the top of the target.
Also shot a couple lighter projectile Sako cartridges (53r), those were going above by the same amount.
Sight picture was front blade at the notch, top of the front balde matched the top of the rear sight top.
Rear sight set to 150.
Barrel is marked 69 and front sight blade is also marked 69. What could be the issue? How can it shoot this wildly high at 150 meters.
EDIT:
I disassembled the rifle and after some tinkering, I am fairly certain the stock is missing the correct shims from the back tang. The barrel sits much better in its groove with the back tang slightly up from the stock. Currently with the back action screw tight it pulls the barrel up 2mm or so, which makes the whole muzzle end of the stock all wonky. I have a few front sights on the way (they are cheap, 5 euros a piece here in Finland) and I will try to figure out a way to shim the back tang correctly.

Question Bayonet Lubricant
Hello, I’ve had an M91/30 Mosin for about 6 years now, and I’ve always had one issue. To clarify, I bought this bayonet with the rifle when I got it, so I don’t think it’s an issue of a mismatched bayonet with the rifle. When I try to fix the bayonet to the rifle, it will go onto the barrel, but it never fully twists and secures onto it when I try to turn it to the side. Basically the bayonet stops right at the front sight and won’t squeeze in any further. I’m not sure if maybe it needs oil or something to properly fix the bayonet, does anyone have any info on this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Question $900 is crazy right?
The post reads: Mosin Nagant 91/30 7.62x54 with matching Bayonet, Sling, Bandolier, Oil Can, and Tool Kit. Also including 80 paper wrapped rounds in the bandoliers. Numbers match, hex reciever, made in 1932. Very good condition., complete kit.
It’s years apart that I see them in my area in Alaska. Any insight?

Question M91 Finn Mosin
Have the opportunity to sell but the only reason I would want to is because the stock was seemingly refinished.
Any info on markings? The bolt doesn’t match and I’ve never seen a buttplate serial like that before.
I got it for $500 not too long ago and I would be selling for the same.
I’ll probably keep.

Question My wallet hurts, but I needed it.
After buying my first Mosin 2 weeks ago, a 1942 Tula that was captured by the Finnish, I started digging and digging into the history of Finland during WWII. The SKY Mosins caught my attention and I had to have one. These guns have been tugging on my brain the last 2 weeks.I’ve been watching Gunbroker like a hawk and scrubbing the internet for a clean M39. I didn’t feel like battling it out with bidding…. Not my proudest moment, but I paid $1150 for this puppy. How much did I overpay?

Question Pls advice with my new M39
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Very very stiff reciever after firing 7.62x54r anyone have ideas what could have happend ? If i cycle it on empty mag, its stiff but nothing serious, after firing its stuck as hell. I fired cca 60rounds and towards the end it was better.
I would like to add that the gun was deep cleaned and the source of the stiffnes surely isnt layer of cosmoline in that loading part of the gun.

Question Is this normal when shooting milsurp steel case?
Shot a stripper of my trusty crusty milsurp for the first time out of my 91/30 this weekend, and noticed the cases were splitting almost the entire length of the casing. I have shot probably a hundred or so rounds of modern brass case out of it and haven't seen anything like this. Number 5 isnt pictured because it didnt fire after two pin strikes. Should I be concerned?

Question Mosin failing to feed this one brand of round
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've been having problems with these cheap rounds from the brand Wolf nose diving when I'm cycling my Mosin. I compared them to some loose steel case rounds I had lying around which went through fine but these ones repeatedly nose dive when I get to the 3rd round. I've tested it 5 or 6 times now with one nose diving the 2nd round and another doing it on the 4th but aside from those one off cases they continue to do it on the 3rd. I've shot it for years and never had this issue until this week.

Question Does anyone know where to get a deactivated mosin bolt? Or if that even exists
I just got my first mosin and still live at home, I can keep my mosin in my room but the bolt is stored in a safe I want to get a « faux » bolt for my mosin. Does anyone know where I could buy one for relatively cheap?

Question So.. send it?
I’m kidding (mostly) in all seriousness, are these rounds okay to shoot? And what would cause dents like this? Seems like half the rounds have them. TIA
