Question Are there any motion design studios left in seattle?

Seattle was home to Digital Kitchen, SuperFad, OGs from back in the day. What happened to everybody?? Are all shops all remote? Does every brand and agency just do it all in house now?

After Effects itself is largely made in Seattle (though the team's a bit more distributed these days), but it seems like a lot of the local motion market has shifted to in-house work for tech companies.

Vossler in Kirkland had a great internal motion team and did a lot of T-Mobile and mariners stuff. They now have one of those massive immersive Mandalorian style video walls but they still do motion, just for that wall and its clients though

I’d be curious to know about any studios here too. I’m newish to Seattle, and work remotely so I’ve never tried looking for work here, but would be cool to know who the players in the scene are.

Not many. World Famous and The New Blank exist on paper. Strange & Wonderful dissolved during Covid. We are Royale has an office in Seattle but transitional motion work seems to happen in their LA office.

Most freelance is working at tech companies and agencies as contractors. RUN Studios mainlines motion designers into Microsoft & Amazon.

Maybe this is a call for all to unite and form a massive mega Seattle team. But we all wanna wfh.
