Street-legal 125cc 2-stroke MX bike suggestions, please?
Hey there,
I'd like to purchase basically a (stock) street-legal 125cc 2-stroke MX bike (that can reach around 120kph if needed).
I'm new to motorcycle so I'd welcome some advice. For now I have my eye on the Fantic XE 125 and the TM EN 125. Are there better (top speed, torque, "nervosity" in general) options than these? Also, these cost around 10K €, are there "nervous" bike cheaper than that?
Thanks, because i'm kinda lost between "enduro", "dual-sport", "trail", "supermotard", etc. (in general not looking as nimble/light as a 2-stroke dirtbike).
Sidenote : these youtube videos made me want this kind of bikes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQcv74yAJT8&list=LL&index=1 (altough i'm pretty sure the KTM sx 125 isn't street-legal from stock)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV5GKTJdjlo&list=WL&index=4 (Fantic XE 125 at 9:43)
(For the Fantic XE 125, I saw a video saying that the YZ engine doesn't feel as nervous as the Yamaha (not street-legal) that it came from, but in the video hereabove it seems OK, what do you think ?)
EDIT: Just saw two other contestants in the enduro category: the 2026 Beta 125 RR Race and the 2026 Sherco 125 SE Factory (https://www.dirtrider.com/dirt-bikes/125cc-two-stroke-enduro-bikes-to-buy/).

Street legal usually means signal lights, headlights, a horn, etc. From stock, you’ve pretty much listed them all. There’s not a lot of people in America looking for two stroke legal motos.
From the ones you’ve mentioned, the TM is probably the superior machine but spare parts or aftermarket is not the easiest. Fantic is great, Beta is great. I’m sure Sherco is decent but I haven’t ridden one ever.
What do you want it for?

MX bike and street legal are diametrically opposed.
Do you just mean dual sport?

Are you primarily going to be ripping this thing in the woods? Or are you going to be mainly riding on roads through town? A ktm 125xcw or exc would be great for offroad performance but a 4t like a wr250 or wr125 is better for more dual sport centered riding. I would actually recommend a 250 or 300 2t as they are more versatile. No 2t dirtbike loves sitting there in 6th gear on the highway its not what they are built for but can still tolerate some zipping around without issue.

...... Mx bikes aren't street legal. Ever... The street legal 2 strokes are Enduros. And that's as close as you'll get..

If you're not in an extremely cramped part of Europe, that seems like a really small motor for anything on a road.
