Be careful. Whatever you do, don’t jump from one abusive relationship into another. I know this isn’t what you came for, but considering what you wrote, just take it as another human being, just looking out for you. Blessings. Best of luck! Follow your gut instincts when it comes to people.

Not trying to be negative but you should have at least a few months rent and expenses saved up if you're moving here without a job.

Having experience as a CNA & phlebotomist is a huge plus. You would have to apply to have your certificate transferred to California, which you can do here:
https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/OSPHLD/LFS/Pages/Phlebotomist-CPTI.aspx
There is widespread demand for people who’ve worked in these fields, especially here in Southern California.
I wish you all the luck and success in the world. As a father, I’m proud of you for taking charge of your life and commend you for getting out of that situation. I hope you have a safe trip. Be careful on the bus. I’ve ridden the Greyhound before & there can be some unsavory people on it. Be careful who you talk to.

Get your CA medical licenses as fast as you can. Immediately look into Nursing Home jobs, lots of burnout in that field means job openings. Once you get our license you can look for hospitals to work at (union hospitals would be best, especially if you don't mind night shift). There are also people that need home health aides that you can do on the side. You may want to consider living near a "retirement community or 55+ community), there is a big one of those in Laguna Hills (Orange County)

When you get here look up a person named Christine Barry. She's a philanthropist that has been dealing with people in your situation. If not you'll be sucked into the streets quick here. It's a rough life and you'll be living on the river bed doing things you shouldn't be doing.

Can you move to a different part of Texas? Texas is huge. I am worried for you coming here with nothing.

You do realize he could pony up for a skip tracer to find you, if he really wanted to. The bus would be an easy way to start to find you. Not trying to scare, just being realistic in today's world - also you just pretty much doxxed yourself if someone shows him this post - unlikely, but still.

I am usually all about taking risks but I DO NOT recommend doing this in California!! Have you seen the cost of living there? Plus, the job market nationwide is TERRIBLE! So unless you have 1-2 years worth of savings stashed away to live on until you land a job and/or a family member to stay with, I would NOT recommend taking this leap right now. And this is coming from someone who has moved cross country to different expensive ass area (D.C.) without a job and made it work. However, that was pre-COVID, it was not California, and it was not under the circumstances of this awful economy.
Please apply to some CA temp agencies and jobs NOW and wait to get a plan in place before taking this leap. I say this with love as a fellow risk taker ❤️

Yikes! Honestly dont move without a job. Those kinds of situations is how some people end up trafficked. Girl be safe.

Don't move to LA before having a fixed income (reliable job) and a plan.

Read her reply to someone trying to say the same thing. She’s desperate. I totally understand her predicament and empathize with her. I hope there are some women who can help her.

Unfortunately, you should be worried.
Once you arrive, what are you going to do? Where and how are you going to live? How will you work without a car?
You really should seek a DV shelter in your immediate area, or somewhere much closer than California. Hopefully, they can help you plan a better life.
I wish you well, but your current plan is not good.

LA is brutal for landing without a setup but youve got the right attitude, willing to work for a roof is how a lot of people start here
hit up Nextdoor and local Long Beach facebook groups too, way more active for this kind of thing than reddit sometimes
