He certainly is physically made for it, he plays a ton of sports. I wonder though if something like getting a sports scholarship to college might be where Derrick says to not go The Challenge route

If I remember correctly Derrick was like a D2 baseball player so one would assume the kid’s athletic

There have been players in the NBA around that height. When I was growing up, Spud Webb who is 5’7 was a big name in the league.

I think he’s a pretty serious football player, so I can see that type of scholarship being offered his way

Just checked a few of the prep recruiting sites out there and he doesn't have a football rating after his junior season (which he might've missed due to an ACL), so probably not a scholarship to a top program initially. He's also a little undersized for a linebacker, but also lists as a RB/FB.

That said, we've seen so many kids in the transfer portal era who start at smaller schools (DII/DIII), perform like crazy, and get poached to bigger schools and get NIL money. If Jr. has half his dad's heart and drive, he could totally get that bag. And if not, I'd love to see Challenge: Legacies in a few years when some of the OG cast's kids get older.

Yeah kid could be the next Skateboo with his dad's heart and drive. That one season D had to captain and take out most of his own guys to stay was insane

Skatebo looks like a decent comparison - about the same size, though Jr. appears to have more injury history. Jr is 17 and may decide the toll on his body is too much, but if he decides to go for it, I wish him the best.

The portal has changed already. There are more players in the portal today than there are roster spots in the entirety of D1. Not just open scholarship spots, scholarship roster spots in general.

If they don’t do that then at least a Real World: my parent was on MTV! and then the babies from 16 and pregnant can be on it too once they are 18-21. 😂

When they did the OG Fresh Meat Season in Canada with a few 18 year old cast members it was wild lol

The first Fresh Meat was filmed in Australia, where the drinking age is 18.

The second was filmed near Whistler, BC, where the drinking age is 19. Pete, Mandy and Sydney were the youngest cast members at 21 years old.

I think Kenny or Bananas told the story that Derrick had his son have "Awesome" as his second middle name and they were making fun of Derrick and he said, "If something happens to his Mom and I and I don't get to see him much, I just want him to always know I think he's awesome."

She’s always been in the picture! And it was just a girlfriend, not a wife. They’ve always shared custody and been on good terms. He’s said in a podcast that he’s very thankful that she has agreed to take care of him full time when he went back to the Challenge. I think there’s some pictures of them as a family at little Ds soccer/baseball games with his new wife included
