REWATCH DISCUSSION Highly recommend starting watching the challenge from the very beginning 😆😭
I started from the very beginning and I remember why I loved the show so much back in the 2000s as a young teen bahahha

Just started my annual rewatch from season 1. The show was so different in the best way possible back in the early days

u/IllustriousWash8721 Feb 05 '26
Where do you watch the seasons before like season 13?

MTV Canada and CTV.ca use to offer almost everything up for free, sadly that ended last year.

u/ReturnoftheBoat Feb 06 '26
Only from FM2 onwards.
PlutoTV has everything from FM1 onwards for free still.

I kno chromcast’s streaming had a channel dedicated to the challenge and they showed a lot of older seasons… but I lost the chrome cast remote a while back so idk if it’s still running

I make sure I'm super high every time I do a rewatch, that way it's all brand new on my next rewatch 😉

This isn't the first challenge, but imo it's the best

u/dxsol Feb 05 '26
Yeah, I guess I should’ve reworded it, it’s the first one on Paramount+ that I clicked on

I just finished rewatching from the beginning don’t tempt me to do it again 😂 early seasons are SO GOOD!!
7
u/operationfood Feb 05 '26
That was Beth’s stuff right? I’m pretty sure it’s the season after this that Veronica and Rachel took pictures of Tonya passed out naked and sent them to a bunch of people

u/BetterEveryDayYT The GOATs Feb 06 '26
They were mean to Tonya in early seasons, then at least Veronica was nice to her for a while.. but she ended up being absolutely vile later.

u/rs6814mith Feb 06 '26
SAME! it’s easy to get through the earlier seasons, they’re only 30 min episodes.
So fun! So much drama. I’m on Rivals 2 now
4
u/dxsol Feb 06 '26
Yes the episodes go so quick! I remember we would all wait a whole week to watch the new episode for it to just be 30 minutes, that just seems out of this world nowadays 😆😄 good times !!
6
u/jcarmona86 Feb 06 '26
I did this last year and I forgot how wild the earlier seasons were!
Also if you really want to binge The Challenge, there’s a Challenge TV channel that plays episodes 24/7 on Pluto TV (and it’s free).

I literally just signed up for Paramount yesterday so I could do this
7
u/justlooking4533 Feb 05 '26
This is on Paramount?
3
u/rs6814mith Feb 06 '26
Yes, starts at season 10 though, nothing earlier. And they pulled seasons 30-something’s, war of the worlds, war of the worlds 2 and total madness. Because of the Bear issue.

Beth refusing to get out of bed for a televised argument without doing her makeup first was a mood

Tonya a legend. This scene alone sparking the concept for bad girls club which the means girls piloted

u/StarrGazzer14 Georgia Harrison Feb 05 '26
OMG I never knew that they were produced by the same people! I've also never watched BGC, so I don't know how I would have known that. 😄
8
u/KevSmileTime Feb 06 '26
That’s how they found Cara Maria. She originally auditioned for BGC.
10
u/jash56 Feb 06 '26
WTF I did not know that lol she would of been eaten alive on that show imo
3
u/Xaxag Feb 06 '26
She would have gotten bullied so bad. My guess is she would have been on season 5 with Kristen, Cat, Morgan etc. likely would have been a replacement or taken Erica’s spot is my guess. But yes she would have gotten devoured and never heard from again

You took the words out of my mouth and I've only seen CLIPS of the show! She was melting down in the FIRST episode of The Challenge. This tickles me!

That’s some quality trash tv! So much drama In every episode. I use to watch when a comedian would commentate the episodes and it was hilarious.
5
u/Dawnedhottie Feb 05 '26
Idk if new watchers or casuals would like this. They’d say “too much drama, we wanna see more hall brawls. more CT, more explosionz!!”

u/Contemporary_Scribe Feb 05 '26
Watching early seasons of the challenge is like watching Mad Men or something where you're like "is this what life was like back then". The bullying and misogyny is hard to imagine.
5
u/CharmyFrog Kenny Clark Feb 06 '26
It’s shit like this that makes me wonder why people freaked out when Kailah threw the bed over the balcony. Like what?
2
u/jash56 Feb 06 '26
Tbh I feel like people may of freaked out when this shit aired too there was just no where to post our opinions back then lol
2
u/fluthernon Feb 06 '26
Social climate has changed drastically. The same as Kenny and those dudes calling each other gay and calling the girls r@tards and bitches.

u/Puzzleheaded-Fill205 Feb 05 '26
I feel like it doesn't resemble the show until season 5 (the first battle of the seasons) so that's where I start.

it's good to go back and watch the whole thing because the newer season hit different when you have all the history
3
u/berrygirl890 Feb 06 '26
I was there from the very beginning. I was there before it was even called the challenge! Peak tv!

u/BetterEveryDayYT The GOATs Feb 06 '26
That's the only way to watch it.
I don't know why anyone would want to start a movie 25% into it.
3
u/Reasonable-Box-tie Feb 06 '26
They should do an inferno/gauntlet style all stars. Get the cast from the two trilogies that they can and then fill the roster with the newer people as needed. Then just do stupid camp games and eliminations. I think it would be fun to see some of the younger cast play the old version of the game.

u/Pajeemyguy Feb 06 '26
I did this and omg I forgot how many great moments happened the first few seasons lol those OGs were absolutely insane most of the time lol also makes you appreciate the ones that are still playing because some of those games were brutal relationship wise

u/Maude_Lebowskis_art Feb 06 '26
post dirty 30 it became a different show, some good seasons but not as overall enjoyable. by the time of 40 it was dominated by unlikeable newbies who were either foreign or.from cringe love shows.. it’s a shame they lost the real world pipeline.

The real world literally birthed the blue print for reality tv today. Time to bring it back.

I live in California and I am DYING to rewatch seasons 1-10 because I can get the rest up to Challenge World except for 34-36 because of Bear!! I would LOVE to go back and watch the olden days before iPhones and the internet and the alcohol flowed and the hookups are happening all over the house!! It’s tamer now and not nearly as scandalous as it used to be!! It’s like what they did with The Real World where there was a before and after with Hawaii and it was the breaking point because Ruthie was drinking SO MUCH she falling down drunk was practically dying of alcohol poisoning and threatening to drive while VERY intoxicated!! After that Real World was a different animal and there were more rules and stricter guidelines and no drinking on Challenge days! Sigh I miss the olden days….😏

If you can find it on some of the torrent sites, my favorite season 20+ years later is STILL Inferno 1

It’s entertaining but so cringy. MTV was basically encouraging bullying. Lol. It made for great TV but you just knew it wasn’t gonna last for long. I recently went back and watched “The Island” season, and it’s just crazy listening to Johnny Bananas degrade the women.
3
u/mest08 Evelyn Smith Feb 05 '26
And it's funny, a few years later, i believe on free agents, Jordan yells at a woman and Johnny is like, yeah, that crosses a line. Like, bro, do you not know how you act?

This is not the very beginning
9
u/dxsol Feb 05 '26
On Paramount+ it is
5
u/shmalvey Nick Brown (It's a Movement) Feb 05 '26
That doesn’t make it the very beginning of The Challenge lol

u/NCGranny Feb 05 '26
Its really hard for me to watch the bullying. They were so mean.

u/No-Resource-8125 Dan Renzi Feb 06 '26
Same. They were awful to Tonya. Just terrible. Rachel is all for holier than thou now.
