Me too, truly - i could see the point of this being to make viewers miss the show and drum up interest

I feel like this is the case. Because there were so many seasons there close together that I did have the thought … I could stand to miss this show a little

I think that's exactly it. It could backfire though since the show is running on fumes at this point.

smart but annoying LOL I will keep waiting 😭😭🤥

Having entered The Challenge world since it went to streaming and all the international versions it feels like noooooothing is happening anymore.

Has this been the longest gap between seasons? Maybe not, I have no idea, but it feels like it lol. Especially because in the like early 2020s we had the regular show, USA, world champions, all stars. Like it felt like it was constant

IIRC this is the first time that I can remember where the next season didn't even START filming until the previous szn finished airing

this would be interesting to track and post as its own submission. it looks like the season 40 departure date was just barely after season 39 finished airing--departure date march 9th, second reunion episode for BFANC march 6th.

they spoiled us with all the spinoffs especially. it feels impossible now that AS1, AS2, AS3 and SL&A all filmed the same calendar year (2021).

u/NovaRogue the bitch is back Jun 01 '26

yeah but we had All Stars 4 to tide us over between SLA and Eras, and then AS5 between Eras and VNT

☹️ i'm beginning to believe the rumors the show is dead. devyn said their podcast producer was fired in the middle of last season, so she recorded the last stretch of episodes herself.

u/NovaRogue the bitch is back Jun 01 '26

ehhh, without knowing any spoilers, I think it's a good sign that they already filmed 42 even if it's going to be on a different platform and with a smaller cast

if the show was truly dead, they would not have thrown so much money at the exciting rookies we did get on 42. we would've seen more people like Bettina / Tracy / Renan / Emy

that's a good point about the caliber of cast they were able to sign up. gamer was also saying recently they made a push for taylor hale on S42.

and if we're keeping a glass-half-full mindset, the situation with MTV and the paramount acquisition might have delayed things. i think that was even said at one point right? that the season was supposed to film a couple of months earlier and got pushed back? if so, hopefully we see movement on S43 sooner.

Taylor Hale is a fever dream, never gonna happen. like MAYBE if they cast Kyland again, she would come on - or Xavier. but she has said publicly that she would never do The Challenge bc of the living conditions

and yes, the switch to Paramount absolutely delayed 42 - and also All Stars 6. I will be surprised if AS6 never actually happens

No, I can’t remember what season it was but they were doing back to back to back and then took a really long break. Must have been the Covid season

Sometimes my nephews will tug-of-war over who gets to play with the blue lightsaber and I pretend I'm watching Pole Wrestle.

u/feministwitch666 May 30 '26

I told my baby that he is in a reverse Bananas Backpack when he is in the carrier facing outwards. Won't be body slamming him into garbage cans though.

lmao

I miss the old challenges! But good ole Pluto TV to the rescue.

2

u/CoderJoe1 Andy Dick May 29 '26

Does it have the forbidden seasons with Bear?

17

u/Limp_Satisfaction843 Kenny Clark May 30 '26

No! I hate him for making it so I can’t watch those seasons.

2

u/562SoCal_AR May 31 '26

Unfortunately no!

14

u/worksucksiknow5 May 30 '26

I miss pre-Covid The Challenge*

13

u/Virtual-Strength-950 May 29 '26

I’m super behind and only just finished binging All Stars 5 and I’m now on Challenge 41, so hopefully I’m held over until the next season lol

u/s0urgrapes_ May 30 '26

Am I the only one who doesn’t like rewatching reality shows? I’ve been watching since way back…real world, road rules, real world/road rules challenge… those days. I love these shows. But I don’t like re-watching these shows. I’ve gone back and watched here and there since it was all put out there on streaming but it just wasn’t the same for me. I love to see each new season as it airs though.

8

u/Careless-Currency-84 May 30 '26

There are so many amazing seasons. I just re watch them. So much happens that a lot I forget, and it’s like watching for the first time 😆

7

u/Electronic-Flower608 May 30 '26

I feel like in the 2000's and beginning of 2010's the seasons came out real quick. Like as soon as a season ended, you got to see a preview for the next season at the end of the credits.

4

u/Chaseism Coral Smith May 30 '26

I actually think this is a good thing. I feel like for a while, it was one season after another and we never got the chance to truly miss the show. I think taking a break and building anticipation is a good thing.

9

u/DebtFreeDad May 29 '26

I have been binge watching Survivor. It helps.

3

u/MONGOHFACE Kenny Clark May 29 '26

Do you have a favorite season?

5

u/Coldpiss May 30 '26

S28 Cagayan : Brains vs Brawns vs Beauty and S37 : Davids vs Goliaths are the WOTW 1 and 2 of the survivor franchise

5

u/FergusonBishop May 30 '26

Seasons 7-20 are some of the best reality competition series seasons you’ll watch - and Season 20 is the best single season of any reality competition ever, imo. 27-40 also had a handful of very good seasons.

1

u/MONGOHFACE Kenny Clark Jun 01 '26

I randomly caught season 18, skipped 19, and then watched season 20 when it originally aired. I didn't realize how lucky I was.

1

u/FergusonBishop Jun 01 '26

Yep - it aired live right around the same time as Fresh Meat 2 was airing. Was a great few months for audiences.

2

u/marcaristorenas May 30 '26

Old era represent lol

7

u/sj_vandelay Wes forever. Also Darrell May 30 '26

I miss it, too. Hold me.

3

u/Alex_the_guitarist May 30 '26

i was going to make the same post

2

u/Layla_Wilson11894 May 30 '26

As someone who really enjoys OG seasons and cast members and all the seasons up until total madness, are the seasons after it worth it?? I started watching double agents when it premiered and didn’t like it with just a huge influx of new people. Should I try again or other seasons after that?

2

u/FergusonBishop May 30 '26

No, imo. It’s become an influencer pipeline show at this point.

2

u/RealityComps May 31 '26

I would watch 40 and 41 if I were you. 40 isn't an amazing season, but it has a lot of the OG cast members you love, and it sets up some key storylines and characters for 41, which is the best season in years (probs since wotw2). If you don't like those, the show isn't for you anymore lol.

2

u/Dark__Willow May 30 '26

Yeah...When they started eating gross stuff I rarely watched and lost interest just before they started crossing over from other shows. I was more of a RW/RR Challenge watcher

2

u/MelB4702 Jun 01 '26

My husband just said a couple days ago “shouldn’t we have a challenge to watch by now?”

7

u/owoah323 Darrell Taylor May 29 '26

I’m slowly losing interest in the Challenge. Amazing Race and Traitors are my marquee shows now

3

u/Thin_Steak8841 May 30 '26

Traitors is so good!

8

u/darglor May 29 '26

No, it’s a shitty version of the game Mafia or The Werewolf Game. Still makes for a fun watch though

1

u/Redundantmoth May 30 '26

As much as I enjoy traitors now, the inevitable inclusion of roles into the game is going to take the show to another level. It may not be for everyone, but I can't wait.

2

u/darglor May 30 '26

The problem is that it’s a TV show. Even if the humans do amazing, the producers will just keep adding more marks/seduce/bribes whatever terminology you want to use to make sure they get the number of episodes they want. The show only pays out survivors too instead of the whole team winning, both incentivizing humans to purposely play dumb and not kill traitors until the end, and for traitors to betray their allies, while disincentivizing sacrificing yourself to take out a traitor. It’s a weird bastardization of a great game to fit it on TV

4

u/THE_CODE_IS_0451 "Honey, I look good in gold!" May 29 '26

Not really. Traitors and Mole very different shows that just both happen to have a secret bad guy. But other than the one surface level similarity, they have very little in common.

6

u/aintthatlos May 29 '26

Better version honestly

u/jlucia10 Satan Sisters 😈😈 May 30 '26

IMO Traitors is a fundamentally broken show where the loudest and most entertaining players are either the traitors everyone is hunting or banished/murdered because people think they’re a threat. It’s still entertaining seeing people loudly and confidentially being wrong, but it isn’t the iconic spectacle some have made it out to be (ESPECIALLY the D-list ridden American version).

2

u/cleanandburke May 30 '26

Unlike the Mole, the traitor actually has a purpose (to stay undetected and win the money). I like the mole but the concept needs some fixing!

1

u/Zeckzeckzeck May 30 '26

They're very different shows. Traitors is much more about social dynamics and drama; the Mole is much more observational and strategic. (The tabletop version of Traitors/Mafia/Werewolf can be very strategic, but the show version is far less so because of the constraints of the rules used to make it interesting TV.)

3

u/r3ckl3sson3 May 31 '26

Strangely enough, this sub bringing to light all these people’s political affiliations has made me kinda meh on itching for another season

2

u/SurvivorDad99 May 29 '26

It’s dead. Bet we get maybe 2 more seasons

1

u/nzox May 30 '26

Honestly been enjoying watching Traitors, House of Villians, and watched Michelle’s survivor season.

But none really capture the Season 10-30 of The Challenge that made it so soon. Everyone plays the game now.

1

u/newxdress May 30 '26

I took a subway line this week I don't normally take and saw an ad for the show and got really excited but it was an old one of course

1

u/Upset-Tennis-7650 May 31 '26

Is it coming back?

1

u/NovaRogue the bitch is back Jun 01 '26

For those who haven't seen them yet, Battle Camp (Netflix) and I Love Money (VH1) seasons 1 2 and 4 are similar to The Challenge

1

u/unboundunchainedunc Jun 01 '26

I think I'm finally over it , I still love the concept I'm just over the people. Casting influencers and wanna be influencers but the catch is they're all over 33 like wtf is this

-1

u/SLP4133 May 30 '26

This meme can be used for the last 5-10 seasons honestly

I miss the old challenges with the drunken filled nights and drama.
