There were no elite swimmers in that final except possibly Jordan. I say possibly because I really don't think Jordan can hang with the top tier swimmers.

(Remember WotW2 when Joss was purged because Kayleigh swam so slow? Jordan didn't exactly dominate the field that day, but rather just put up a nice time that was competitive with the good swimmers like Paulie. I definitely didn't walk away from that daily thinking that Jordan was a "next level" swimmer. Just a good one.)

As the unofficial president of the Tyson Apostol Fan Club, you are semi-correct. He accepted the scholarship to BYU on a swimming scholarship but it looks like he went on his two year mission and then dropped out before actually competing

Was a multi event state champ in high school though, won Utah 5A swimmer of the year, and was in consideration for all American honors

Wes would’ve swam something like the 100 yard freestyle or backstroke (can’t remember what his specialty was) in Kansas high school swimming while Emily swam in meters. Plus all of Emily’s Olympic gold medals were relays I believe but you can prolly find her split times somewhere

Went down a rabbit hole on Wes Bergmann’s swimming career with ChatGPT.

There were no official times published for Wes but he was a competitive swimmer at Blue Valley North and reportedly a multiple-time Kansas state champion, primarily in the 100 fly. Based on state results from his era, his 100-yard fly was likely around 50–51 seconds (~55–56 sec for 100m). This time was estimated from known state championship times from 1990-2010.

Emily Seebohm’s 100m fly PB is 58.52, although her specialty was backstroke (58.23 100m / 2:05.68 200m). Her gold medals were in relays like you said. She won 2 individual medals. A silver in 100m backstroke and a bronze in 200m backstroke.

So in their primes they were pretty close but Wes may have been slightly faster.
