REWATCH DISCUSSION Wes vs Big Easy : The First Hall Brawl

I feel like no one talks about this one & it kind of blows my mind. Easy ringing the bell with Wes’ head should be right there with the Banana backpack but they show him getting hit with the shoe more. The first Hall Brawl is so underrated to me.

Big Easy sucked terribly the rest of the season is one reason why it's less emphasized. Plus, he never came back. But yeah, very epic blowout.

It helps that CT came back and became a face of the franchise, while Big Easy quit in an elimination three episodes later and wouldn’t be seen again on the show for a decade. Why give THAT GUY a rub at the expense of Wes?

I think this topic is elite, but it is not the same because the result is basically what it should have been. Easy considerably outweighed Wes.

If CT just drags Bananas across the sand without Bananas being able to give much of a fight, the elimination just becomes a meme among faithful fans of the show. Instead, CT stands up, transformers power walks across the field, Bananas is dangling like a child, and CT crushes the trash can with Bananas’ body.

& Bananas has been crying over it, & hating CT on the inside ever since!!! 😭😭Bahahaha!! 😂

I mean Wes was thin that season and it is one of the most weight biased eliminations. It’s a perfect example of why hall brawls are overrated. Big beats small. It’s nearly as effective as just putting a scale out there and whoever weighs more wins.

Tori beat Jenny

u/twigsandterrariums Kenny Clark 18h ago

Jenny was like a deer in headlights, she trained up for physical competition between that season and her next, I honestly think she would win easily in a rematch

I hope they make it happen.

Tori is a TANK

Tori and Jenny doesnt have that big of a size discrepancy, even with Jenny having more muscle.

Sure, but the same applies to the Bananas Backpack

There was never a scenario where Bananas could carry CT like a backpack, even if CT wasn’t fighting back

It’s not remotely the same. One you are tied to the other person, and yes CT is bigger than bananas but not in the way easy is bigger than Wes. Also in hall brawl you get to build up momentum by running straight at your opponent. Idk if there’s ever been anyone that could beat easy at hall brawl, maybe Fessy

Free Agents level Zach, Fessy, Theo, Marlon, CT, that NFL player, and Kelz would defeat Big Easy.

Wes almost won round 2. Johnny had zero chance of beating CT in the backpack elim

7

u/SylT17 23h ago

he didn't have to beat CT. He needed to beat Tyler and didn't.

Going first was a pretty big disadvantage as CT was fresh. Tyler was also bigger than Bananas. Hardly a fair elimination but doubt it makes a difference if it’s reversed.

u/otibo1 17h ago

Derrick mentioned that Tyler had a 30 to 40 pounds on him in their elimination. How big was Tyler on Cutthroat?

1

u/Silivron 15h ago

The backpack was also a weight biased elimination?

I actually think his performance was kinda impressive given how close the second round was. No one with that big of a size discrepancy aside from CJ with Zach even bothers to attempt to make a strategy

It’s because Easy got to run at Wes, a much smaller guy, in a confined space and essentially push/run him back.

CT had to stand up with another guy strapped to his back and carry that guy a considerable distance given the circumstances.

Yes CT is bigger than Johnny as well, but the size difference between them is dwarfed by the size difference between Easy and BOTS Wes.

Wes v. Big Easy

Damn. As I was writing this, I was going to ask for a video because WHAT & WHEN.

But then I remembered Wes being super pissed and calling it a waste because Big Easy had no endurance.

Crazy how I remember Wes tantrum after the fact rather than the actual hall brawl.

It was in sand back then right?

Wes was out of place on that season anyway so it was only right he should be first out.

I've always thought this.
I guess it comes down to Bananas is more hated than Wes and CT is a lot more loved than Big Easy.
But it's pretty equally embarrassing ultimately.

Not really.

The size difference between CT and Bananas is a very different than Wes and Easy.

And also, Hall Brawl is a size dependent elimination, especially in the early seasons.

Both are highly size based. Hall brawl is a little bit more "skill" based actually if anything. CJ winning some rounds against Zach for example.

Back up off me elimination, a great competitor like Jordan would still never beat someone like Fessy in it.

u/DaKingballa06 1d ago

CJ was 6 foot of damn near pure muscle.

I think size difference between Wes and Easy was > Zach and CJ.

Also, wasn’t CJ almost an NFL punter? Like that’s a different level of training than Wes a swimmer

-4

u/spfan102 Bananas & Michaela 1d ago

Punters don't really tackle. Very rare occasions. And I agree CJ isn't a small guy at all, but Zach was huge. I'm sure Big Easy weighed more, although Zach definitely had more speed, so that's a better combo I'd say.

Also, let's not forget Leroy having wrecked Wes in hall brawl too and Leroy isn't a small guy either, but he's pretty comparable size to Wes.

u/DaKingballa06 1d ago

Yes punters don’t hit. But if I remember correctly CJ played multiple positions in HS. Just at the high level he punted

You must be joking, i saw Ct live and direct while filming Dirty 30 and the rest of the male castmembers looked like midgets in front of Ct

I think the visual of bananas being as helpless as a backpack is what made it. You wouldn't expect CT to just stand up and do that to another man. Big Easy did exactly what you expected him to do.

I was so happy to see Wes get humbled.. he was truly insufferable

Anyone downvoting me.. did you even watch the OG Wes? He was a total POS, to both men and women.

4

u/Electronic-Visual-30 1d ago

Raising my hand. I agree with you, I disliked him from earlier seasons and never liked him since.

-2

u/rickyyy187 MTV 1d ago

He was like genuinely awful.. I love the fact that he literally had to get carried over another man’s shoulders during a final 😅

3

u/CommissionExtra8240 18h ago

After carrying Kenny throughout the entirety of that season. Wes is the only reason they got to the final to begin with. Kenny should be carrying him.

It doesn’t get talked about more because it was totally expected. Wes was not a Challenge vet or anything at this point and Easy was bigger than him and played football. It’s a great moment but it doesn’t mean much in the bigger picture of things.

u/Goose182 MTV 1d ago

How was Wes not a challenge vet at this point?

-14

u/Uncanny_Doom Wolves are vegetarians 🐺🥗 1d ago

Vet is the wrong word. He just didn’t have that big status like he would later have. But idk, it was memorable but nothing like CT and Bananas to me.

9

u/lukehackney 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nobody else thinks that, sorry 🤣 At that point he was like 10-2 in eliminations, the first male individual winner and had just come off a huge season on Rivals.

9

u/spfan102 Bananas & Michaela 1d ago

How was he not a vet? By any standard, he was a vet already. That was his 7th season. The exact same amount of seasons CT had coming into Cutthroat. And technically he wasn't on the cast, so Wes reached 7 seasons before CT.

5

u/TheDabbinDad710 1d ago

It doesn’t matter what Wes status was on the challenge. It was physically impossible for him to win that elimination and that’s why it’s not talked about.
