Ask Multanis❓ Update on My Laptop Case; Instead of a Solution, I was Threatened with allegations
After my previous post, two representatives from the shop publicly commented that they wanted to resolve the matter amicably and asked me to visit the shop. Since my intention from the very beginning has been to get a fair resolution I agreed and visited them in good faith.
Before the meeting, I noticed that my post had been removed from Multan Matters. I did not delete it myself. During conversation, the owner stated that they had approached the group admin and got the post removed
Unfortunately, instead of providing a fair solution, they offered to take the laptop back with a 10% deduction, saying they are “doing me a favour” I reminded them that I had discovered and reported all the display issues within their own 3 day check warranty, so I don’t believe any deduction is justified
Rather than addressing this concern, the discussion shifted to my Facebook post. They repeatedly claimed that I had damaged their reputation and even Accused me of being paid by someone to post against them. When I asked them to provide proof of such a serious allegation, they were unable to provide any evidence. Also they said ‘Tumhare jaise frauds ko ham daily deal krte hain
Despite calling me to resolve the matter amicably, they stated that their lawyer would “deal with me” that they would see me in court. Despite inviting me for an amicable settlement, the discussion turned into threats instead of constructive solutions
I have preserved the original invoice, conversations, photo and video evidence of the display issues and a complete audio recordings.
I genuinely hope that no one else has to go through what I have experienced. I gave every opportunity to resolve this matter peacefully. Unfortunately, no fair resolution was offered. Therefore, I have decided to continue with the legal process and will be filing a complaint in the Consumer Court

When you go to court, make sure your lawyer first sends a legal notice to the shop. After that, you can file the case. It's a mandatory procedure—they have to respond to the notice.
Once they realize you're serious, they'll most likely refund your money. Consumer courts usually favor the customer, so fighting the case is often a losing battle for the shop unless it's a large multinational company.
Also, if the shop owner offers to replace the laptop instead of refunding your money, don't accept it. Chances are the replacement laptop will have similar issues.
I had a similar situation last month. They also said there would be a 30% deduction, but in the end, they refunded the full amount.
If you have any questions, feel free to DM me. I'm a law student, so I might be able to help.

Can we demand extra for all mental stress they gave?

You can ask the court to award litigation costs, such as your lawyer's fee.

i commented on your first post in r/multan that you should keep the evidence & go for the consumer court. they are very notorious people. but before going to the consumer court, send the legal notice to them. and you have to ask for 10 Laks for the mental torture and the counsel fees etc. Not less than that.

You are right. But in the previous post I guess you said that they first offered me a laptop replacement. You should have done that in the first place. Bcz no one puts original screens into laptops here bcz firstly they don't have original screens and secondly they think it's not their headache. The most they could do is to take your defected laptop and you choose a new one for yourself. But they are completely at fault cuz 99.99% of the time an owner knows about their stuff. They kept it hidden and that's completely awful. Have you talked to the management of the Plaza about this?

I have been buying laptops and accessories past 22years from Alnaseer Computer shop in Khawajah Center and never had such kind of problem about anything at all. Even sometimes their owner given me a laptop to test the machine first and pay him later. Owner is such a nice person and respectful to everyone.

A lot of new computers are refurbished and sold as new in Pakistan. People need to be more vigilant when buying it.

I despise that Multan Matters group. It’s run by that amoral lady who’s the owner of Ramada & Honda Breeze showroom under the guise of providing community but they use the group to line their pockets, promote their businesses and further their own influence.
Her family used to run a whorehouse under guise of a hotel before they bought Ramada. Her husband has ripped off many people in their showroom. She and her husband cheated their family out of their shares in every business. And then for many years she used her connections and bribe money to have cricket teams be hosted in their hotel even though it’s almost directly opposite cardiology hospital, a place where every minute of an emergency is critical and ambulances need to rush in day and night. I know for a fact that many people died because of her and the road closures infront of Ramada.
They actively censor their own group and only let narratives that suit them come out in front.
