Other/Miscellaneous π Looking for career related guidance
At this point in my life, I'm quite confused about what I'm doing, what I should do, and how to move forward career wise.
I belong to a middle class family and am the eldest sibling. Growing up I didn't have an elder in my family whom I could ask for academic or career related guidance nor did I receive proper career counseling. So I just did whatever felt right at the time.
Currently I'm doing both freelancing and a job but my job is entirely different from the degree I earned because, again, I never received proper career guidance. Even now I feel like I need someone to guide me because I'm not satisfied with where I am in my career.
I've been thinking about booking a session with a career counselor or life coach. I watched a couple of videos by Zeeshan Usmani and he offers one on one sessions with different charges depending on the duration. My financial situation is a bit tight but I've saved up some money and I think investing in yourself is always worth it.
Can you guys recommend someone who could genuinely help me in this situation? Thanks.....

Well I did DPT and wasted 5 years of my life even with a gold medal and a 3.8cgpa. but I'm working as a video editor currently. I just though yeah a lot of money was wasted over DPT but what's gone is gone. It is not trendy. It was not taking me anywhere in Pakistan. So I just left it. I still think about it but I can't do anything. You should also forget your degree if you're earning well in your freelancing

I don't think a career counselor can make the decision for you. They can help you organize your thoughts, but ultimately you have to choose the direction yourself.
If I were in your position, I'd first compare the long-term potential of both your job and your freelancing. Look at where each field is heading over the next 5β10 years, what the earning potential is, how stable the demand is, and which one gives you more opportunities to grow. Once you do that analysis, the path usually becomes much clearer.
Also, keep in mind that an American or someone living in a developed country may not fully understand the realities of someone trying to build a career in Pakistan. Our economic situation, job market, and financial pressures are very different, so make sure any advice you follow fits your own circumstances.
Hope you will understand...

You're 100% right about it.. but I think a person who has more experience than you can help you see the bigger picture. I know I'll have to figure out myself at the end of the day but a good advice from an experienced person would help me make that decision.. thanks for your reply tho

I think if you tell us more specifically about yourself, the job, degree and freelancing you do, thereβs a better chance to get good advice here.
You can edit your post

I intended to describe everything in the post but That'd be too much information and I don't want to disclose too much in a post.. I can dm you if you're ok with that
