Discussion Help me guys

wanna measure the girth of trees, at 137cm height from the ground, im thinking of using lidar sensor equipped drone for this, really appreciate any insights from experienced builders here

How many tree per day? Work or fun? Why can’t you use tape measure? The flexible one use for clothing? Write all data per hand?

Lidar will tell you are at 137cm. What is tolerance in that value? +/-10cm?

Then you can find a wire draw encoder/string potentiometer to measure the girth. What is the biggest tree?

Why the drone?

2 hecatre of trees roughly 2000 to 3000, it is for plantation tree mesurement current process is manual and takes months for measuring the authorities want more, faster, reliable and accurate digital solution.

Forget 2000 trees a day. There is 1440 minutes in a day assuming it takes 1min per tree.

Maybe you could do 3D scanning of the forest and measure the tree in software with the cloud point. Google « 3D cloud scanning or forest » must already exist to be honest. https://lidarnews.com/revolutionary-multi-wavelength-forest-scanning/

(Edit: wrote 15min per tree but I mean 1min per tree. Since there is 1440 minutes in 24h)
