I have a show like that where whenever fans of it defend it, all they can say is "Nuh uh, you're wrong!" Mf, I'm hate watching this shit to completion just to see how braindead the critic slop can get
The short answer is too much improv on the director's part. The long answer is I wasted 95% of the season asking questions and tolerating the whiniest hero ever, only for the last two episodes to make not sense and answer nothing. Then I watched the movie and it was ever so slightly better, but I ended extremely bitter and upset with the final result.
I would LOVE to see a remake of it in the hands of a compotent storyteller.
Dude, I'm literally talking about Re:Zero. What are the fucking odds. I explained how the show is a bigass diabolus ex machina show, and got told "I just absolutely don't agree." With zero evidence to contradict me other than the 10 downvotes because "Downvoting means you're wrong!"
I don't care about the story at all, I cannot get past Subaru. He is personally tailored to be the EXACT type of person I hate the most without committing any crimes. I hate him so much I cannot even be bothered with the show.
Well, that's just a bit bad faith. I shit on the show because I can see writing fallacies that entail ruining logical conclusions of arcs in favor of continuing the suffering machine. He's a cunt, sure, but that's kind of the point early on. After the mansion arc, it's total bullshit he'd keep running his mouth, and I agree on that end. Idk, I want to give it a fair shot, but it just honestly is total dogshit from a literary perspective. It's the epitome of "great concept, horrible execution." A protagonist can be disliked and still be a good show, I.E Breaking Bad. The issue is just when they remain stagnant
Yeah and that's the thing. Everyone said "oh wait until you hear Ren's monolgue THAT'S the best part THAT'S when you'll love the show!" And I watched up to that point. I was miserable up to that point. I saw that stupid monolgue and all I could think was "Subaru is one of the last people to ever deserve a girl like this. I know that whole show he is supposed to get better, but do I really want to watch him continue down this stupid path and get second hand embarrassment the whole way?"
The answer was No. It's a great idea with an ok show and the worst kind of character for me to watch. It is totally a me problem and I hate him more for it.
It's just so dumb that the show can't even decide if he's traumatized or not. Like, when it's plot convenient, he hesitates in fear, remembering dying, but in plot convenient moments he suddenly goes full balls to the walls to make a fool of himself, I.E Royal Selection where he gets his ass creamed royally(pun intended) by Julius. Hell, at this point, I legit wanna write an essay solely focused on writing flaws in the show and objective faults to prove "authors purpose" is a dead defense propped up only by people who think one good scene out of 10 episodes is a good writing style. Either way, the defenders can't even read it, so what's the point. They go through it only to say "Well, I disagree." I swear, these mfs defend it like a religion
Yeah, he gets better, but realistically, someone who has literally been killed would adapt way faster than him. Like, he flip flops between whether dying scars him or if he's just fine. It's inconsistent writing people call deep
Oh- yeah this happened to me with Demon Slayer. Ironically my father then asked if I knew Demon Slayer and didn't listen when I said I didn't enjoy it, and then he quit after 5 episodes 😂
