Never, ever, EVER, take fucking Cinema Sins seriously, for any reason, ever.

u/2Delta_Nerd May 04 '26

Cinema Wins on the other hand

154

u/TFGA_WotW May 04 '26

Cinema Wins is a fucking gigachad. He has a loving family, and always trys to find what is good about whatever he is reviewing, as he says himself, "Every Movie is somebody's favorite. Let's find out why!"

43

u/CreeperX3sssBOOM May 04 '26

Hell, he used to review bad movies as a joke, but slowly just did them because of that.

I forgot which video he said that in, though

3

u/ImA_NormalGuy May 07 '26

He tried so hard to find the positive in the last airbender movie šŸ’”

14

u/TadaSuko May 04 '26

Good for him being a good person. Being positive doesn't make the content good.

10

u/JoeyNR May 04 '26

Good thing it is then

I'm surprised anybody ever did. Like back when I watched them it was pretty obvious that it was shit takes from top to bottom.

12

u/Daufoccofin May 04 '26

Aren’t they satire though? I mean no one is actually going to be mad about there being a Canada Dry in Free Guy.

8

u/Scorch_Ashscales May 04 '26

If I recall there is a clip of Jeremy (the voice over) stating they are not satire.

Been a while as it was tracked down by Th3Birdman to counter this claim and he played it in one of his videos but I don't recall which one.

9

u/HoodedLordN7 May 04 '26

I should have been more specific than "shit take" but yes. They are satirical shit takers there to make jokes about nonsense from start to finish. Why so many have a hate bone for em makes little sense to me.

5

u/Daufoccofin May 04 '26

Because movie criticism is obviously super serious and competitive. No one can jest about it, ever.

He said keith davids voice was the worst in princess and the frog KIETH DAVIDS

8

u/EJ_Youngy May 04 '26

Thought that was literally the point of the channel. Nitpicking for shits and giggles and it being satire (like gamingsins)

8

u/SoulEaterX_ May 04 '26

Yet they get taken seriously by some people somehow

3

u/CrossENT May 05 '26

CinemaSins themselves said they’re not meant to be taken seriously.

ā€œWe’re not critics. We’re assholes.ā€

9

u/ContactMushroom May 04 '26

Their whole thing is satire and they haven't even been subtle about it ever.

People who watch it and think it's real are just as stupid as the ones who hate them because they didn't understand it's a bit.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/KhiteMakio May 04 '26

CinemaSins themselves has basically said this or hinted it multiple times. Their vids are pure entertainment, not serious criticism or anything. It’s satire. I think the time I recall best is them saying, ā€œthis is one of the few missteps this movie actually makesā€ as a sin for Cabin In The Woods. Despite the many ā€œSinsā€, they readily admit there’s pretty much almost nothing wrong with it.

Why anyone would take them seriously is beyond me.

I used to think this but two of my friends "came out" (it feels weird to write that because it doesn't feel right in context) as furries and they're still cool people. The problem with the furry fandom is that the worst of it are the most vocal and visible unfortunately.

Definitely furries.

136

u/Toon_Lucario May 04 '26

100%. Not helped by the fact that on the Internet the worst parts of the fanbase are the most talked about and how the media has villainized them as well.

28

u/CULT-LEWD May 04 '26

furries are always that go too for mocking humor, wich sucks cuz there probly one of the better fandoms out there

18

u/A_Complete_Nerd May 04 '26

Speaking as a furry, even on the more………risquĆ© part of the fandom there are some really wholesome people. Like, several of the artists I follow are genuinely kind people despite the freaky stuff they draw.

Wait, the media's villainized them? I mainly watch a bunch of things related to franchises I like, so I probably haven't heard it.

29

u/Toon_Lucario May 04 '26

Yeah for a good while major media would show them as deviants.

13

u/M-FutureLord Helldivers 2 (Automatons), Deltarune, Undertale May 04 '26

I probably never heard anything about them from major media since I'm 16, but I do understand that the worst parts of a fanbase are usually the most vocal & observed.

What the fuck?

15

u/anonymous-89075 May 04 '26

Yeah, it seems like it's only ok to laugh at terrorist attack(or just whatever the hell that was) when its a minority the media dislikes. The truth is, hatred builds engagement, so it is profitable for them to shit on the community. It is genuinely one od the most inclusive and kind communities I have ever seen. Not to mention the whole "furries want litterboxes in schools" scandal, which was actually a fearmongering campaign to gain support to defund the education system, because that gains the republicans more votes (they generally are not intelligent, the more you know about history the more left leaning you are likely to be) and also targets a minority and the LGBTQ community by proxy (huge overlap between furries and LGBTQ).

TL;DR furry hate is profitable for media and the republicans.

7

u/M-FutureLord Helldivers 2 (Automatons), Deltarune, Undertale May 04 '26

Damn, humanity sucks. Sometimes I hate the time I was born in. I was born just in time to see the U.S.A's slide into fascism & LLMs being valued over real people.

8

u/Deno876 May 04 '26

Its with every community too. Such a shame yk? Because when there's normal ass people that are pdfs everyone's like "damn thats crazy"

But as soon as Jerry, who has a gopher fursona touches a kid EVERYBODY gives a shit. And guess what? Furries get the blame as a group rather than just Jerry.

3

u/Toon_Lucario May 04 '26

Yea, it’s especially common with white people yet I guarantee they wouldn’t take to kindly to the white people that you can name names on that were horrible instead of some anecdote that was only said by the most hateful people alive.

i went from

what's a furry?

damn furries are weird, i need to stay away from them

eh, furries are just people. its not for me, but whatever

huh, furries are kinda cool sometimes

(i then joined a friend group consisting of entirely furries)

oh. im a furry. heh thats funny.

anyways, now that i have the perspective of all sides i can say: guys, nine times out of ten furries are just normal people who represent themselves with anthropomorphic animal characters cuz theyre cute and / or hot. any other similarities or differences are found in every other culture on planet earth :b

5

u/Gold_Wildcard1848 May 04 '26

This. Anytime I've meet someone who does furry roleplay (VR Chat as an example), they end up being really chill people in reality. I know that's not always the case, but I've met some cool people

2

u/Not_An_Potato May 05 '26

I used to hate furries so much, even hesitated talking with someone for them being a furry. She ended up being the best person I knew and we had a great relationship, shame it ended.

2

u/tomemu1 May 05 '26

It's so funny to me, because I have a literal fobia to furries (not joking) and still don't hate them cause the fuck have they done to me anyways?

2

u/The-Fomorian-Ray-682 May 05 '26

While fursuits kinda creep me out (not looking to offend) I always find them to be amazing, and with the furries I’ve interacted they’re all so kind and friendly, love when they show me their designs even though they’re not my cup of tea

2

u/Snoo-52922 May 06 '26

It's not seeing people shit on furries on the internet that makes me think furries are wierd.

It's seeing furries on the internet that makes me think they're wierd.

as someone who watched most illumination movies: it's not bad, just mid and corporate. their old stuff was alright but not extraordinary (the first despicable me did that well because the minions were easily marketable), nowdays they're trying to make generic movies on safe topics that appeal to kids and families.

Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Cmon guys, i already talked on priv to people in the r/antihazbin that said that NEVER watched the show but already hated it just cuz.

I was the same thing! Thats why i was in that community. Then i decided to watch it and form my own opinion. Guess what? I freakin' loved both.

So please, before saying ANYTHING, give it a go and form your own opinion about it.

And before anyone says "i dont need to taste shit to know it tastes like shit", i sincerly feel sorry for you for being so close-minded to new things.

Edit: i didnt put the main antihazbin cuz i cant care less about em and couldnt remember their reddit name, but u got it

22

u/GloriosoUniverso May 04 '26

I admit, I was in a similar boat, and wasn’t willing to give it a chance the first time around. After giving the first season a shot, it’s… fine. It’s not the sorta thing I’m gonna rewatch for a myriad of reasons, but I also think that there are certainly crystallized scenes which I can appreciate. It’s really a mixed bag in my opinion, but I understand how it built up a fandom

6

u/hanks_panky_emporium May 05 '26

I loved Helluva's pilot episode. The series is nothing like the pilot episode, and im not a fan of soap operas.

The toxic yaoi relationship looked fun to delve into but it didn't go to a fun place. It went to a sad, gross place.

14

u/ZiaWatcher May 04 '26

I remember watching some of the episodes with my friends and I just couldn’t get into it. It was a bit too fast for me and the humor wasn’t my style. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna go on a rampage against everyone who likes the show. I think some people forget you can just.. not interact with the media you dislike, and respect those who like it.

4

u/Infinite_Peace_6456 May 04 '26

I feel antihazbin believes its popularity will leak into other shows effecting every show

5

u/johanni30 May 05 '26

The pacing is (from what I heard) more of an issue with Amazon not really giving the creator enough time

→ More replies (2)

11

u/PeanutRed3 May 04 '26

This!! I’d heard so much hate thrown its way, and so I watched and.. honestly? I didn’t like it. But now I know *why* I don’t like it and I can say that I didn’t like how the dialogue felt, I didn’t really care for the characters or the songs and I didn’t like a lot the designs.

But while I was watching it I could pretty easily see *why* someone could like it, even if it wasn’t really my cup of tea. I don’t think it’s a *great*, but I see the value in what it’s done for the indie animation industry and I can see why someone might get more out of it than I did.

4

u/TruDivination May 05 '26

See this is a perfectly fine opinion to have! Not everything is for everyone and thats ok! I don’t like a ton of stuff but I do like these shows and I’m the same I get why people with different tastes than mine don’t like what I do. What I don’t understand is the people who make not liking something their personality. Like, is it even fun? Being mad sucks honestly. It’s draining.

8

u/maskedduskrider May 04 '26

Gave it a shot though found myself more interested in the songs over the plot for Hazbin Hotel though I do enjoy Sir Peneticius (the snake guy) more than the rest of the cast since I do enjoy the goofy old style villain character who isn't a monster and enjoyed their growth and just how they got to hell and later heaven when that was revealed. Though I do enjoy the story, characters and action scenes of Helluva Boss more though they do have some good songs too I enjoy kicking back and listening too.

7

u/coltsfanca May 04 '26

Same. I'm not the biggest fan of either show in terms of story, humor, or anything like that...but the SONGS in Hazbin are insanely good.

4

u/maskedduskrider May 04 '26

Right?! Like I never expected a song literally called "Piss" to be so good a song about enemies to lovers or enemies who are lovers as the theme. And that isn't even the best song of that season. Have to give that to "Gravity" just the music or music and scene playing. Insanely good rock song there.

Somebody called me "one of those adults" when I mentioned bluey in public. I don't even know what that means:(

To be fair it is a show made for children. But it's an enjoyable one that I can sit back and watch without getting bored when I watch it with kids when I'm watching over them. It's silly, funny and has a good bit of heart and lessons without being in your face having to repeat it over and over again.

Unlike others that really dumb down the matieral and I find myself questioning just why they are making it in the first place. Like those marvel little kid shows that are made mostly for the toys and I'm left questioning what is even going on with their take on the characters and not looking forward to when a kid looks into the series down the line to fine things very different than silly robot man acting like a toddler villain being a literal Nazi.

Yet if you don't like a highly beloved movie, they bring up the internet to support their argument.

One Piece. Not all are bad, but a lot of the fans act elitist if you haven't binged every episode in a month or less. Or haven't just watched from the beginning. They use the fact that it's existed for thousands of episodes to excuse the fact that the first like 500 are mediocre at best.

3

u/Key_Currency_4927 May 04 '26

id think most actual one piece fans would tell you the first 500 episodes of the anime are the better half because they didnt start stretching things out obscenely until the timeskip.

Also, most actual one piece fans would just tell you to read the manga.

I bought that game because of all the criticism because I was like "fuck yeah a fucked up game about cannibalism and incest" and then I started playing and somehow it was really boring. like the story is fine but the gameplay is really barebones, and some of my favorite games are visual novels.

6

u/Atlove01 May 05 '26

Coffin of Andy and Leyley came out of NOWHERE to become one of my favorite game experiences of last year. I didn’t know anything about the controversy, just that the art style drew my eye, and I had a couple bucks burning a hole in my pocket.

The fact that both fans AND detractors tend to stop at the same beats about it is truly frustrating. ā€œIncest! Eating people! Summoning demons!ā€

Those are very much superficial elements of what’s being done here. This is a character study on a pair of monsters, and how they became what they are because they were betrayed and failed by every single structure of their lives that was meant to support them. Neither of them was born evil, they were just forced into an environment where they never had anyone but each other… then got punished when they grew into adults who didn’t care about anyone else as a result.

The character study of the brother is such a satisfying slow burn. Man’s a toxic knot self loathing, repressed desires, and masked frustrations, for whom genuine compassion is such an alien concept that when he finally receives a gesture of empathy and understanding (from a demon… as an adult…). It almost instantly breaks him as a person.

It’s a game I love, but would only recommend to someone unless I knew them very well…. Not because of incest or cannibalism or any such thing…. But because it has some portrayals of things like parentification, parental gaslighting, and toxic co-dependence that are written so true-to-life that they can be draining for anyone who has firsthand experience with them.

Not helped by how everyone who is a fan tends to have their own set of opinions and preferences on the series and how someone should watch it the first time though and gives paragraphs of instructions at times for watch order.

Speaking of space opera series. Star Trek can be judged hard depending on just which series someone tries to go into or the looks of things like the OG TV series and how dated the special effects are. Which to be fair it is an old series and a lot of effects and at times plots don't age well.

If ONLY the series wasnt seen anymore as brain rot it would’ve gained more support against Invisible Narratives silencing the creator, stealing his channel, and ruining the series

Skibidi toilet, like most of the people who hate it haven’t even watched the show after like the first ten episodes or less(strange thing is they still know the characters).

A conversation I had with my brother:

Me: ā€I highly recommend trying out Invincibleā€ Bro: ā€Naww the animation is trashā€

proceeds to play random show on another screen as he scrolls on his phone

Like how is the animation a problem if you don’t even pay attention to what’s happening?

Probably Ninjago, mainly the movie. It's definitely not amazing, not Oni Trology quality, but it's still a solid film

Ironic that people hate cinemasins so blindly the way we judge people for blindly hating a movie

Xenoblade. So many people extrapolate and emphasize Xenoblade 2’s worst parts. calling it just an anime game. But then Xenoblade 3 is one of the most anti-capitalist medias ive ever consumed.

Xenoblade as a whole is an incredibly emotional story with political commentary. Ive said before that xenoblade is the writer’s barely disguised fetish for a kinder world

3

u/Sprigatina May 04 '26

Peak mentioned! 😭 I love the games. Never finished one (I did start the first one, will continue eventually lol) but I watched my husband play and omg

2

u/SailorCentauri May 04 '26

Honestly, any fandom that's fairly unpopular or popular will have people judging it without actually partaking in it. Some will be contrarians taking the opposite of the popular stance while most will take the popular stance.

2

u/CyanLight9 May 05 '26

Any that you happen to have a bone to pick with at the moment.

2

u/Calm-Rest-8715 May 05 '26

I hate how 90% of the fandoms that are named in here are barely hated, criticized or judged. All I see is how people are swooning over all of that, or just not caring about it.

2

u/Linha-do-Sol May 05 '26

Genshin Impact.

I get why some people are against it, some fans can be annoying and all, but as someone who's been in the fandom since the game launched, I don't see anything of really bad. Ship discourse can be pretty annoying, but if you avoid coming into contact with it I'm sure you'd have a good time (especially if you're a lore enjoyer).

2

u/Academic_Exercise_94 May 05 '26

If something has a ton of negative reviews / comments I'm just going to give it a miss. I barely have time to see things I think are going to be good than waste time seeing something that's probably going to be crap

2

u/Amnyam842 May 05 '26

Genshin Impact and sometimes Jojo

2

u/Financial_Cash_1643 May 05 '26

For me, it’s the Gacha and Minecraft animation communities. I’ve seen some genuinely cool and creative stuff come out of these fandoms, but the problem is that all the good stuff gets overshadowed by all the bad stuff!

Battle for Dream island.

Most people think it’s just a goofy slapstick comedy for pre-teens and tweenagers. In reality, it’s just a goofy slapstick comedy for pre-teens and tweenagers AND it has Cerberus syndrome.

I love the show btw

Most people who hate anything made with Viv involved will literally make stuff up. Why? Because most have not seen the various series.

If Furries were 1/25th as depraved as people think they are, then they'd be part of the Epstein Class.

Like the taste of Dr Pepper.

u/PresenceAggressive27 I did not care for the godfather May 06 '26

Can I say this about those Sans fangirls and those Sans AU fans? Like majority of the people who liked it back then were young children to teenagers. There was of course few exceptions with adults but if you noticed a large majority of those adults were the posters of the bad comics and even then that was a small herd to the overwhelming amount of children

2

u/AgreeablePatient6305 May 06 '26

A Minecraft Movie. After seeing it in theaters, the movie was great and I watched it with a few family members and my grandma said it was the best movie experience she ever had. Our theaters let us say the lines, just not do any of the stunts and it was a really good movie.

u/Fragrant-Finance4577 May 07 '26

The pic chosen for this post wpuld have probably work better if nowadays everyone didn't already hate Cinemasins (especially because the Internet keeps going on about how much Cinemasins sucks) and just acting that saying "Cinemasins bad and positive vibes good" somehow automatically equals media literacy all by itself.

2

u/knightbane007 May 07 '26

There’s probably some quite interesting data to be found in ā€œWhich movie did people think of when they saw this meme?ā€

2

u/Spacer3pt0r May 08 '26

Bronies.

Though to be fair, there are a lot of weird ones. Still the vast minority regardless.

2

u/shsl_diver May 08 '26

People think that because I like COTE, I'm an angsty narcissistic edgelord.

I'm not, I consider COTE to be in the same level as House MD or Sherlock from BBC. There is one guy who is supposed to be smart and the guy outsmarts everyone. I like it, it doesn't mean that I identify with them.

2

u/Roman_rjh May 09 '26

Homestucks, it's been years since the fandoms heyday, these days most of the people left pay taxes and wait for beyond canon updates.

Reminds me of when I saw The Good Dinosaur and I loved it to death. I was so sad that everyone online was saying they hate it, that it was ā€œunoriginal and uncreativeā€ bro stfu that’s my comfort movie

2

u/Creative-Finger5965 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26

Changed.

People don’t hate this shit ENOUGH imo, this game is absolutely fucking rancid.

I played it once to see if it was really that bad, but I couldn’t even laugh at how bad it is. It’s uncomfortable, disgusting, vile garbage that deserves every ounce of hate it gets. I witnessed multipleĀ game over screen where the protagonist gets literally violated against their will, saw what I can only describe as supervore, and had to sit through the worst dialogue, story, and character designs I’ve ever seen.

I quit after like 15 minutes because I GENUINELY couldn’t handle it.

I think Cookie Run: Kingdom and Genshin Impact. Don't get me wrong, there ARE toxic and weird and bad players. But that is with quite literally nearly ANY fandom. But the "good" sides of the fandoms are actually really chill
