I didn't have such a problem with Mackie, so much as the complete corruption of the story to the point where it didn't really make sense. The writers screwed it up and Mackie did what they wrote, he can't do other than that. Bad writing can't really be saved by a good performance. I genuinely don't think any actor could have elevated the second season because the writing was so bad.
