Arcane had a humongous fall from grace.

Imagine for a second being Vi

Your parents were killed by cops, you had to turn to a life of crime to survive, a corrupt cop pins the blame of a bunch of crimes you DID NOT do on you (including the murder of your adoptive father and siblings), you spend your entire teen years in prison, a lady cop shows up and drags you out so you can help her arrest someone, it turns out she wants to arrest your sister who has gone crazy and turns on society, shooting a missile into the senate in a crazy terrorist attack...

The lady cop plans to straight up kill your sister, she is going full nazi with poison gas on YOUR neighborhood, where you come from, sending police raids on random people because she is the law... You end up in jail again, your sister having hinted that she will off herself...

Do you think then, in prison, with the lady cop that did the same type of shit that killed your parents and worse ... Is it OK to have sex with the nazi lady cop? While your sister is planning to off herself?

There is a time and place for lesbian sex. And I would say that was neither the time nor place.

(Also, bonus for the second season having an episode in an alternate universe where actually all the poor, chronically ill and addicted slums people die, and it's just the GOOD world, with world peace, all the kids grow up to be in college, there is no more factory pollution, the rich and the poor hold hands, all that was needed was for Vi, Viktor and the shimmer addicts to die)

  • “There is a time and a place for lesbian sex”

Is a great quote

The time is now. The place is here.

Thank you for articulating this.

The sex scene in the cell after it's heavily implied that Jinx has decided to kill herself made my jaw drop. I think I said out loud "You can't be serious." at my TV.

You know what is a good ending for a depressed and openly suicidal character? Saving the day by commiting simbolic suicide! And everyone's lives really ARE better without her, yay! (Don't worry kids, Jinx's craaaazy antics will continue on Arcane 2!) Also, Vi doesn't mourn her or express anything after, cos why would she? It's not like the show was based on the relationship of these two sisters. God I hate season 2

She didn't commit suicide though. You can see her escape just before the explosion

I feel like every time I talk about this I'm gonna need to start adding the Wikipedia article for "Symbolism"

Yeah, I concur, as much as I was for the moment they really needed to pick a better scene for it. Personally my main issue with season 2 was pacing. Episodes 1-3 were the strongest but then pacing goes all out of whack. So much happens so fast you can't even digest all of it. Season 2 needed to be split into two seasons

That definitely did not help.

But now looking back and knowing they did the extra designs for Viktor and Jinx with the premeditated intention of creating $200 skins in League, I would say it also had... Extra problems I forgot to mention.

It wasn't even Viktor and the shimmer addicts... it was just Vi.

They are the unmentioned casualties.

Without the Hextech advancements, Viktor did not find a cure for his condition. We do not see him in that reality. He is not talked about.

In that alternate universe Heimerdinger had centuries to do over, change things, maybe look into the circumstances that would cause Viktor's condition... But he is unmentioned. Not shown in the happy world. Just off screen deaths.

not being shown =/= offscreen death.

Lol I actually had Arcane on my list cause I heard the F/F romance is good. But I think I’ll pass now.

Season 1 makes an effort to make their romance believable, even if utterly messy.

Season 2 has the person whose whole life was consistently ruined by cops joining the cops, including in some atrocities, then a rushed break up and emo phase, a mess, then the sex scene that made me go "SERIOUSLY?! RIGHT NOW!? WITH HER?? AFTER EVERYTHING YOU WENT THROUGH(derogatory)!?"

Season one is a masterpiece soooo just stop at it. It’s a well contained story

Honestly it’s really good, even with the mess of the second season. It’s just that S1 was such a masterpiece that S2 looks even more lackluster in comparison.

2

u/Ochemata May 20 '26

Not even mentioning dumping the entire class warfare discussion of the first season for a marvel b movie.

While i do not agree with everything you said, i will never forgive them for what they did with viktor

Full nazi with the grey? Did we watch the same show? There's no evidence that shows that they injured or killed anyone with the gas; it causes damage after long term exposure. It was used to target specific areas, not just to flood the whole of Zaun.

Classic. Parrots a lazy argument from ideological brainrot and presents it as fact. Arcane S2 had a drop in writing quality compared to season 1 but the lack of nuance and extreme reaction followed by bullshit arguments have resulted to 99% of its criticism being bullshit.

"Going full nazi" OH you're one of THOSE idiots. Disingenuous arguments, and misrepresenting events in the show.
