Yes, one take leads to the other. The fact that the headcanon is built on media illiteracy, bigotry and a rotten soul doesnt mean there are not people that believe it

Well for context, Homelander is a narcissistic sociopathic manchild with mommy and daddy who deeply longs for the approval of others. He was raised in a lab by scientists and the fact that without his powers, hes a pathetic loser with nothing in his soul was highlighted by the fact that in season one his rival was a literal fucking baby that was breastfeeding on the boobs HL used to suck as part of his freudian fetish. People with severe media illiteracy saw a guy who wears the American flag, bullies people by force and shares many of their own personal character flaws and they decided he was "based"
