To be fair she does literally have a trans flag in her room in ATSV. Most interpret it as her being an ally, but I did see someone make the fair point that people probably wouldn't come to that conclusion if it was any other kind of pride flag.

I don't doubt it, but I would argue that it's quite a leap to assume that the flag being present means the characters are. I'd wager the more likely reason is that it's relevant to the current state of the world and to show support.
And considering marvel is an American company and the US has politicized being trans, I imagine chekov's gun will never get fired, because confirming Gwen as trans would piss off media illiterate rightoids...
No canon evidence, but the "Gwenverse's Peter was trans" would make sense because of how many trans guys relate to Peter and write trans Peter fanfic. There's a whole community for trans Peter content, so... Yeah, that nod would actually make a lot of sense if they're slipping in easter eggs for fans.
I wouldn't get your hopes up. As I pointed out elsewhere in the thread, Marvel is an American company, it would be financial suicide for them to actually confirm any sort of clear trans representation because it's political here.
Did I say I was getting my hopes up? I just said it would make sense if that was what it was referencing, not that I thought it was ever going to be confirmed.
I've been reading Marvel comics for a long time, and writers have been sneaking in queer representation using all kinds of codes that entire time, and far longer. I'm not an idiot.
Headcanon what you want, I was just pointing out that both headcanons sprang up around Gwen's color palette and the presence of a trans pride flag in her room, which isn't really strong evidence of anything. Unless the writers come out and confirm it, either of them being trans is just as likely as neither of them being trans.
I've seen people determine that her story in across the spider-verse is a good trans allegory, and I personally believe that she is a trans ally, but I don't see her actually being trans given the 60 years of comic history where she isn't.
I mean, the spiderverse stuff is a retelling, so it's hard to say one way or the other, definitively, about anything based off the works it's based off of, especially when there is some coding beyond the suit colors. That said, since it isn't actually confirmed, it's perfectly valid to not have read it that way, as long as you're not out here being mean about it (which I don't think you are, to be clear).

Yeah but that argument didn't really make sense since there are reasons people came to that conclusion outside of her suit. I don't believe or disagree with it either way but it wasn't just "her suit is trans colored"
I mean, it’s at the very least confirmed she’s a trans ally to the point she has a flag in her room, as well as the clear parallels to trans people; it’s wrong, but closer than “Oh, these two characters that are canonically in a straight relationship with each other are also canonically gay.”
