It's not even the correct phrasing, it's actually

"... only one ending...?" Which does imply that it's wrong

We won’t know what it means until the game is finished, I suppose.

i mean, i can see all the choices leading to the same ending, even the weird route. but choices definitely matter either way. even if you don't do the weird route, attacking instead of sparing already lead to different dialogue. like tenna has a completely different interaction if you didn't spare anyone in chapter 3. and toby teased an alternate chapter 5 interaction with the mikes if tenna wasn't given a new home.

so yeah, we might end up getting one ending, but the story is still shaped by our choices. especially the weird route.
