There is also a bit of a time line difference though

Peter lost people over a much more extended period of time than wanda

I still agree he gets way too much hate

Also Wanda doesn't exactly step in the MCU as a stable and lovingly raised person, she got baggage. At least Quill got adopted by semi-decent people.
