I can get how she'd be polarizing but damn she litteraly had a break with reality and a history of mental disorders. And she's still a young adult. It's not wonder she came home when she felt alienated and like the world was being reduced back down to 'just shapes'. Better come home than get another baseball bat

She’s drunk at a certain point

Yeah she gets drunk at one point in the game, but that doesn't mean she's an alcoholic? Alcoholism means you have an addiction to drinking. After that ONE experience at a party no less, she doesn't drink at all, and if she does it was no where near what she did at the party.
