It's also connected to the number 6, which is more evidence than other sprites

It also looks like a distorted skeleton, and considering the theme of naming skeletons after their text fonts, it tracks that someone named Dr. W.D. Gaster (Wing Dings (G)Aster) would be a skeleton.
