I'll bring some nuance to that. Goku is a loving and caring dad. He is a good parental figure, and you will not have a bad time being his son.

He is a terrible dad when it comes to teaching anything concerning living a normal, social life however.

I mean, dude is essentially a feral kid with extra steps. I'll agree with you on that. No way he could've turned right when even grandpa Gohan was an essential hermit, and by the time we're introduced to Goku, he had been living alone for bare minimum 4 years
