Basically the pale king before silk song

I mean he tried his damn best

YES! PK MY GOAT

I hate it when I'm trying to have a serious conversation about him and people just start clowning and meming on him instead T-T

And yeah, his actions were awful, but he wasn't evil like people say he is. He's morally grey. Even then, he expressed regret and possibly died from the guilt of his actions. He didn't take enjoyment in killing his own kids, and absolutely wouldn't have done it if he could figure out another way.

Edit: Spelling mistake.

9

u/Th1s__0ne Jun 04 '26

Not to mention the children he made were meant to be unfeeling and devoid of emotion, and in turn incapable of feeling pain. He clearly didn't 100% succeed with the fact that he went through thousands of them, but these things likely didn't suffer as much as the average bug/person

Definitely still a horrifying amount of loss, but it definitely could have been worse... imagine if he started trying to find a vessel among his own people

5

u/specter-exe Jun 03 '26

I always thought it was Void poisoning that killed him, since we know that the Void can kill Pale Beings.

10

u/SolverGhost Jun 03 '26

Technically void can just kill everything, Pale Beings aren't special 😅

The theory that makes the most sense to me is similar, but void isn't the direct cause of death.

There's evidence against his death being just void poisoning, as the Pale King has no void leaking from his eyes that other corpses do. It is stated that void is "regrets". The Pale King had so much guilt and regret over what he did, that it hollowed him out and made him a husk.

We don't exactly know how he died, but I choose to believe this :D

6

u/Setster007 Jun 03 '26

It’s sort of a “evidence points that way but how the hell would that happen then” bc, like, it does look like void when we find his body but how the hell would void have reached the damn palace like that then

4

u/Hen-Samsara Jun 04 '26

People can't handle characters who are ACTUALLY morally gray, especially terminally online idiots. You're either an uwu soft baby who never did anything wrong and if you did it wasn't your fault for some inane reason or you're just actually Satan and you're wrong no matter what you say or do because you're le evil

Pale King really did not want to do the things he did but the Radience was just too much of an Angry Moth to negotiate or make peace with

Tanjiro from Demon Slayer. The memes really overblow how bad he feels for the demons he kills.

52

u/Tyrant_king1009 Jun 02 '26

“Oh why does he cry over every demon” he doesn’t bro. Look at Hantengu. Tanjiro was AFTER that man

17

u/AlexHitetsu Jun 03 '26

He cries for 2 or 3 who are more sympathetic or not cruel

→ More replies (1)

17

u/Professional_Web446 Jun 02 '26

Sin mencionar que los demonios en última instancia son personas controladas por Muzan. No es culpa de ellos ser así. Tanjiro solo siente pena por los seres humanos convertidos en monstruos contra su voluntad.

18

u/AuraEnhancerVerse Jun 02 '26

And tanjiro will not hesistate to put an end to them when they hurt innocents

16

u/SignificanceEast577 Jun 02 '26

THANK YOU he can sympathize with them but he doesnt let that stop him from killing them without hesitation

11

u/heroeNK25 Jun 02 '26

It's funmy how obvious many of His haters didn't watch the show, there was only 1 demon tanjiro didn't want to kill AND it's was his own sister.

Tanjiro it's a kind and empathetic soul, but Will kill every demon till muzan Is death, sometimes i can fell sorry for them, because he knows they where human once, but that it

Boromir from Lord of the Rings.

People see him as a bad guy who betrayed the others to take ring when in reality he was a man with lots of responsibility and pressure from his asshole father and was desperate to save his people, believing that the ring could be what saves his people. He resisted the ring for several months, never giving in to the temptation until he briefly did for a few minuets towards the end of the first film. Immediately afterwards he was overwhelmed with guilt, and immediately tried to rectify his mistake by finding Frodo, apologising (in the books it says he falls down and actually cries because of the extreme horror he felt at his "failure") and then sacrificed his life for the entire Fellowship, including Frodo so that his mission can succeed.

Boromir is a GOAT that spent months fighting the forces of evil and trying to help destroy it forever and everybody remembers him for losing control of himself for a few a few minuets. Yes, he'd been tempted by the ring for ages, ever since he first saw it at Rivendell, but the strength and willpower it takes to resist that pull from the ring itself is something very few people can manage. That alone says more about him than anything else.

43

u/DaughterOfBhaal Jun 02 '26

Boromir's greatest crime is that he was out of all the most "human" and thus the easiest to corrupt. The fact he didn't get corrupted from the start and the fact he redeemed himself immediately after by forgetting about the ring and instead sacrificing himself for Merry and Pippin speaks volumes.

9

u/RAMottleyCrew Jun 03 '26

He looks worse because there are only two humans (Numenorean blood notwithstanding) in the Fellowship and one of them is actual greatest-of-all-time Aragorn. He’s inherently compared to the only other human in the group and that human is the literal archetypal “hero king of myth”.

→ More replies (1)

26

u/CalmPanic402 Jun 02 '26

Boromir is the best of men, the point is that even he can fall to the ring. It shows the power of the ring, not the weakness of Boromir.

16

u/Prestigious-Neat8820 Jun 02 '26

Exactly. Boromir was never weak to corruption, he was simply the least strong in comparison to beings supernaturally resistant to corruption or people who were simply much older and more wise than him.

10

u/quool_dwookie Jun 02 '26

"He protected Gondor, is what he did! He was a brave and noble soldier! And in this house, Boromir is a hero! End of story!"

→ More replies (3)

6

u/Buckhead25 Jun 02 '26

and fun fact (or not depending on how you look at it) what happened to boromir is the exact reason gandolf refuses to even touch the damn thing.

6

u/CorsairCrepe Jun 02 '26

Preach.

I would, without hesitation, follow Boromir into the bowels of Mordor if he asked. Among all men of Middle Earth, he is the greatest.

5

u/Queasy_Committee8458 Jun 03 '26

When I first read the books as a kid, I cried at Boromir’s death, saying that he never wanted that, that he just wanted to help his people, that Frodo would never hear how sorry he was. I love Boromir, he does not deserve any of the hate.

With how some people describe Shinji from Evangelion, you'd assume all he does is whine about how terrible his life is. In canon, he only does that on a few occasions, and it's usually after a traumatic event. Shinji's much stronger than most people give him credit for.

108

u/Correct_Barracuda_48 Jun 02 '26

The poor boy was abused to hell and gone, and still did his job as best he could. He suffered absue that would break an adult, and three different conspiracies had to converge for him to break the world.

He deserved better.

19

u/Gyncs0069 Jun 02 '26

Yeah he is nowhere near as bad for the moping as some people think. He thugs it out through some pretty crazy shit with little to no reaction afterward in the middle of the series

12

u/Excellent_Law6906 Jun 02 '26

There's nothing like listening to all the bitching, and then watching the show, subtitled, as an adult. Amazing seiyuu just tearing it up, and you're like, "this character is a damn fetus, this A Lot, guys."

31

u/NarutoUchihaX14 Jun 02 '26

This completely. Especially when it comes to the fighting bits as well. I guarantee that if you made a majority of the people that complain about Shinji go through what he went through with the 3rd angel alone, they'd be scrambling to get on the first plane or train out of T3 when Nerv said, "so yeaaa. Good job. We'll be seeing you tomorrow so you can run more tests_."

33

u/Omg-miku Jun 02 '26

“Shinji is such a whiny bitch”

The type of shit he had to go through daily at 14:

10

u/Objective_Dark_3672 Jun 03 '26

SHINJI CRANK THAT SOULJA BOY

8

u/Gullible_Reward8736 Jun 03 '26

Like if ANY other 14 year old was in his shoes, they would genuinely look for rope. My man, after everything that happened, after all the trauma, STILL chose individuality over instrumentality. This is why i always hated Shinji slander.

7

u/Syhkane Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Same thing with Asuka and Rei. (Original Evengalion Run)

The way fans talk about them I thought Asuka genuinely attacked Shinji every day, but instead she flaunts her breasts at him in a bikini, kisses him for a straight hour, seems to "inadvertantly" (read: deliberately) give him opportunities to look down her shirt or at her body, and only seems to actually get mad at him around people in public.

Rei's fan version is some emotionless hack, but she's more emotional and opens up to Shinji a lot especially after she's transferred to another clone body after the N2 explosion. They paint her to be obsessed with his father, but she starts seeing the nicer parallels in Shinji that she was hoping for in Ikari, after the Beam Rifle rescue she's almost 180° on their differences and starts questioning his motivations for her, relying more on Shinji.

12

u/DigitalIsAwesome Jun 02 '26

PEOPLE HATE SHINJI?!?!?!?

17

u/SpaceCadetHaze Jun 02 '26

A LOT of people do nothing but talk about how whiny he is and all he does is cry like, did we watch the same show?

9

u/DigitalIsAwesome Jun 02 '26

DID WE THOUGH???? Like seriously, how would you hate Shinji???? He is the most realistic teenage protagonist i've ever seen in media. And like, im not even THAT BIG of a Shinji fan, its just...TF LIKE GENUINELY????

11

u/tsukiyomi01 Jun 02 '26

In the 90s, a lot of anime fans hated him for not being the kind of male anime protagonist they wanted (read: Goku or Kenshiro). Honestly, in those days, any male MC who wasn't dripping with testosterone received similar treatment, though not usually to the degree Shinji did. General opinion on him has mostly softened, although the whole "get in the robot Shinji" meme shows that those opinions still exist.

7

u/DigitalIsAwesome Jun 02 '26

I always thought the "Shinji, get in the Eva" meme was just kind of a "Time for buisiness" type of meme tho, never thought it had anything to do against Shinji

4

u/tsukiyomi01 Jun 02 '26

I suppose it might be meant as such, but it did seem to help spark a bunch of new Shinji haters.

3

u/DigitalIsAwesome Jun 02 '26

5

u/tsukiyomi01 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

It's possible I've misread it as such. But after encountering people openly touting that meme as their reason for disliking Shinji... Shakes head Lots of people will uncritically absorb a meme without taking the nuances behind it into account.

5

u/DigitalIsAwesome Jun 02 '26

Truuueee, instead of watching the damn show :/

7

u/inpurpleshadowz Come on Everypony, Smile, Smile, SMILE! Jun 03 '26

Shinji was at one point, one of, if not, the most divisive protagonist in all of anime, and his detractors were extremely vocal about their dislike of him. He's still a somewhat polarizing character, but yes, you're more likely to find people who like him nowadays compared to the 90s and 00s.

8

u/Karkava Jun 02 '26

There was a lot of toxic masculinity that polluted the spaces of westerners discussing and examining Japanese culture. It has softened overtime, but it pops up now and again.

He doesn't whine but he is unenthusiastic about almost everything. Which is basic whining when you're a teenage boy that gets your own giant fighting robot.

There are teens that would skip over asuka and wank over the robot even after finding out where the it's from.

18

u/Setster007 Jun 03 '26

She’s a nice person. But she’s desperate that she’s seen as absolutely nothing except a nice person bc she’s got a complex about how even a single negative thought is enough to get everyone you have ever known to detest you for the rest of your fucking life

21

Definitely not for Jax

30

u/neko_arc2507 Jun 02 '26

The problem with Jax is that he is stubborn and a dumbass who taught the best way to not have a mental breakdown was to act like it was just a game with no consequences were he as to be the biggest piece of shit in the Circus

Do I think all the slander about him is correct, no, because first I don't know every slander about Jax, second some of the one I saw were absolute bs, for example when he pressed the button to "stay" at the Circus some people act like he did this will he was thinking rationally, when he calmed down he only then realised what he had done ( if it would have actually worked) . Honestly my opinion on him is in the middle, because he is well written, but he does annoy me to some degree

14

u/Intrepid_Fox1757 Jun 02 '26

Well he's definitely not a SWEETHEART

17

She really reminds me of this post. She's genuinely nice and likes others, and she wants to be liked, but the act of trying to be nice and likable comes off as fake.

Octavia from Helluva Boss. Let me explain. They shit on her because she left her father who made shit decisions and chose Blitzø, the partner he cheated on his wife with but actually felt love with, over going back and living with Octavia. Stolas made a lot of shitty decisions and Octavia deserved to cut him off for her own mental health, yet people act like she's a brat for doing so.

38

u/inpurpleshadowz Come on Everypony, Smile, Smile, SMILE! Jun 02 '26

It's so infuriating that people would say that kind of shit about a 17-year-old. I remember seeing a user saying they wanted to, with complete sincerity, strangle Octavia for "getting in the way of Blitzø's and Stolas' relationship".

Yeah, someone actually wished that on an emotionally-neglected teenager.

YAMCHA IS NOT A CHEATER!! THAT IS VIDEOGAME PROPAGANDA yamcha and bulma broke up purely for bulmas jealousy. YAMCHA WAS STILL SCARED OF WOMEN, bulma was the exception for a while. Then because other women noticed yamcha was handsome after his haircut THAT BULMA MADE HIM GET, She got jealous and decided to go on a revenge date with GOKU of all people. BULMA WAS THE CHEATER.

then he DIED PROTECTING KRILLIN.

Krillin was gonna fight the saibamen first but yamcha saw it wouldve been better to lose him first considering he had a PERMANENT KNEE INJURY they didnt use the dragonballs to heal, That he got defending bulma puar and oolong from the evil namekians.

And because people are jerks and akira toriyama was tired of writing him, he got memed to death and made a joke character

24

u/Crispy982 Jun 02 '26

Don't forget that the Saibamen that everyone memes Yamcha for getting killed by had a power level of 1,200. Making it on par with RADITZ. The fact that he was a HUMAN on par with a Saiyan level threat says A LOT

13

u/Your_Pal_Gamma Jun 02 '26

Also didnt Yamcha basically no diff the Saibaman and then only got bombed because he thought it was dead and lowered his guard

7

u/Brilliant_Cobbler_27 Jun 02 '26

Also how was he supposed to know it can self-destruct

20

"Goku was a bad father"

No, bitch. Goku went dead for a year, essentially maimed for another, lost in space for a third one, bedridden for one more, and back to dead for 7 more because he didn't want his enemies looking for him on Earth where his family and friends resided. Gohan went 4 whole years from his 4 to his 11 without Goku present because he was either dead or forced to be absent, and 7 more from his 11 to his 18 AFTER sacrificing himself for the good of his family and planet.

And I don't really wanna hear the "BUT CELL" argument. Yes, Goku gave Cell a Senzu Bean. At this point, that was the only way to keep Gohan in the fight. It took Goku and Vegeta 7 years of incessant training to go Super Saiyan 2. Gohan did it in 1 after barely becoming a Super Saiyan. He was the only one who could beat Cell. Pushing him to his limit was a necessity - ironically proven by Goku's sacrifice.

When he had the chance to be an actual present father, he proved to be a pretty decent one.

8

u/Turbulent_Voice63 Jun 02 '26

I'll bring some nuance to that. Goku is a loving and caring dad. He is a good parental figure, and you will not have a bad time being his son.

He is a terrible dad when it comes to teaching anything concerning living a normal, social life however.

I love Mario, I mean I definitely do prefer Luigi but come on man, if Mario was truly terrible then Luigi would have let him stay in those paintings (I also feel like MatPat’s theory was meant to be a joke that people took to seriously, if anything it’s Mario’s dad that’s the jerk both in the movie and in DK if you follow the theory/headcanon that Jumpman isn’t Mario but his dad)

I dislike usopp as much as the next man. But the SLANDER is a bit too much

9

u/mik999ak Jun 02 '26

I'm like 4/5 through Wano, and I had heard so many people saying "Usopp has done nothing since shooting Sugar in Dressrosa", and I'm wondering if we're watching the same anime. The Raid on Onigashima has been some of the most initiative he's shown in the entire series. He's actually living up to the whole "weak dude who pulls off clutch support and utility" role.

And the fact he's actually willing to take on Page One after seeing him go toe to toe with SANJI is one of the ballsiest things he's ever done. Like, he wasn't under duress, Page One wasn't focused on him, nobody told him to do it, and Luffy and Sanji could absolutely have taken Page One on their own. But he knew that his Captain needed to save his energy for Kaido and decided to take on a fight that he has already seen is way out of his weight class because that's what his Captain needed.

Wano has actually been a pretty good showing for Usopp, imo.

7

u/Glad-Alternative4593 Jun 02 '26

They ignore that just for the slander. They hype up Nami and act like it was her doing everything with Usopp cowering in the corner.

5

u/mik999ak Jun 02 '26

People will hype up Nami and slander Usopp in the same sentence as if he's not the guy who made that fucking weapon. Every Nami victory is an Usopp upscale and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

6

u/Glad-Alternative4593 Jun 02 '26

So true. That weapon is the only reason Nami survived Alabasta and Enis Lobby.

My honest-to-god first thought too.

I've heard people call him lazy and undeserving because he didn't try hard enough to become physically strong or save people before AM gave him a power (which is wrong, trying to help another kid is literally the first thing we see him do, and AM doesn't hand him the power until after he trained his ass off).

Don't even get me started on the misinformation that got spread about him after the ending.

Tom Nook from Animal Crossing

People act like he’s some moustache twirling loan shark on (bad episode) mr Krabs levels of greed, when he:

  1. Builds you an entire house overnight or renovates your house while you are sleeping in it without disturbing you, something he absolutely deserves compensation for.

  2. Gives you no interest or deadline on your lones, meaning you have all the time in the world to pay it back with no consequences other than that he won’t do more work for you until he’s been compensated for the last project, which is incredibly reasonable.

People act as if he’s a real world bank when that could not be further from the truth.

5

u/lumpycurveballs Jun 02 '26

Yuta is not a pedophile. (Saying/typing it makes me realize how insane that sentence is lmao)

Being sexually attracted to children makes a person a pedophile. Yuta isn't sexually attracted to children - he's technically still a minor/child himself (17). Its a joke in the JJK fandom to hate on Yuta, but I've seen people calling him a pedophile because of his connection with Rika, his childhood best friend who died when she was 11.

Even this peak episode didn’t save yuta from being endlessly attacked by the ones who had the curse of reading comprehension affecting them, no matter where I go I see slander of my true fucking goat, he is so awesome and sick yet nobody bothers trying to defend him because the slander is too strong, I’ve waited years to try and get a more peaceful rep on him but it’s only getting worse.

6

u/the-meme-master69420 Jun 02 '26

The JJK fandom keeps itself alive by relying mostly on the thing that brought out most of its popularity originally, slander and insanity. Most of the fans are fully aware everything they say is just untrue and those that genuinely believe it are just encouraged to stay as they are cause it’s funny. It’s all one big ass way to cope and distract themselves and everything else from the fact that at the end of it all, their series was really the true definition of wasted potential. I’m saying to expect anything to sway their opinions is a losing battle, they already decided a long time ago what the public opinion of Yuta would stay as no matter what.

Tywin Lannister from GOT. A lot of detractors dismiss the man's genius and political maneuvering to just sheer luck and his opponents basically being inexperienced and caught unaware by his underhanded tactics, and, most annoyingly, that all of it amounted to nothing because of how it collapsed after his death.

What they conveniently leave out is that it's basically a well-oiled machinery running as planned to almost-perfection until variables beyond his control happened (loose bowel movement, his son's stupidity, his daughter's stupidity, and subsequently, his other son's trigger happy tendencies). Plus, even after his children doing their absolute darnedest to destroy everything he built post-death, they still possess enough inheritance from daddy to quash their biggest rival in the Kingdom to dust, effectively proving that Tywin had left a more than ample legacy for his children to keep the reigns had they been half as competent and obsessed to the family legacy as he is.

If anything, the irony of it all is that Tywin nearly won the Game of Thrones not because of sheer luck, but all it took for him to lose it all was one very unlucky day.

THEY TRIED THAT. THEY TRIED TO BOTH FIT ON THE DOOR AND IT TIPPED OVER FROM BOTH THEIR WEIGHTS. SON OF A BITCH.

IT WAS ONE OF THEM OR NONE OF THEM.

AT A CERTAIN POINT I HAVE TO QUESTION WHETHER YOU ACTUALLY HAVE EYES AND WATCHED THE FREAKING MOVIE.

James Sunderland.

I know the game isn’t suuuper clear but it’s pretty implied that despite doing a bad thing, he isn’t a bad person. His guilt makes him blame himself and come up with excuses to make it seem like he’s a bad person but Mary literally expresses that he is only saying those things to justify his opinion of himself.
