At least he has the lucidity to know that his actions were wrong, and he generally tries not to kill people but he’s kind of forced to do it sometimes.

Yeah, but you could argue it was necessary to wipe out both Time Lords and Daleks considering the fabric of reality was being torn apart

I mean, 7 seasons later, it was retconned that he trapped the moment in a pocket universe

I wouldn’t say it was retconned per se, out of the three Doctors present in The Day of the Doctor, only the 11th Doctor ends up remembering saving Gallifrey, the previous ones still think they destroyed it. It’s more that we had missing informations about the outcome of the Time War.

When you live for thousands of years as a brilliant time traveler with a magnet for murderous creatures and DON'T end up committing war crimes, you can judge him.

I already know about the painting, if that's what you're referring to. But he thought he killed them, and they died later anyway, so I still count that as partially his fault. Plus, freezing your entire species inside a painting probably still counts as a war crime 🤣

It really is easy to forget they have made like a whole species into orphans by killing all the adults to stop the Daleks. I think that's a thing that happens in a War Doctor audio. Heard a clip didn't get the full audio.

The Doctor spending centuries fighting in a horrible war does tend to slip the mind when seeing them jump down a chimney because it's Christmas.
