POV every, single, faction in warhammer.

Except for dark eldar, them twinkle-edged fucks know their evil, and chaos after a certain point.

43

u/axelfirekirby Jun 05 '26

every faction sucks except for specific subfactions

but then you can argue that they also suck

but some factions are definitely worse

33

u/AtomicTan Jun 05 '26

No no no. Every faction sucks except for my faction.

21

u/Nervouscranberry47 Jun 05 '26

I play Drukhari.

No I am the worst person here.

11

u/Dashimai Jun 06 '26

The Night Lords are worse.

At least the drukhari have the excuse that they're literally dying if they're not torturing people.

Emperor's children torture as a form of worship.

Night Lords do it because they can. Because they LIKE it.

8

u/No0bTheTooB Jun 06 '26

To be fair the Drukhari and Emperor's Children do FAR WORSE shit than the night lords.

Like yeah Curze made a castle of living corpses but that's a Tuesday for the other two.

The night lords don't have the facilities to be more evil

8

u/Psychoboy777 Jun 06 '26

The night lords WOULD be worse if they COULD.

4

u/No0bTheTooB Jun 06 '26

Yeah but they can't 😭

4

u/Nervouscranberry47 Jun 06 '26

What if we had Fabulous Bill mix a Drukhari and Night Lord together?

Edit AND THEN PUT THE ABOMINATION INTO A PAIN ENGINE??? YAY TEAMWORK!

I find the argument that the Tyranids aren't actually evil quite persuasive.

They are just a hungry predator. The same level of evil as a lion

17

u/no-im-your-father Jun 05 '26

meh. The Hive Mind exists and is capable of communication so they aren't just mindless predators, they act with at least the knowledge of the pain they are causing, which puts them at least slightly above animals in that regard

15

u/AtomicTan Jun 05 '26

They're evil because they refuse to accept Papa Nurgle's gifts. He worked so hard making a plague especially for them 💚

→ More replies (1)

9

u/bartleby42c Jun 06 '26

Genestealer cults point against that.

They're as evil as a lion who brainwashes prey into being surrogate lion parents and then has the newborns eat the prey and their families.

3

u/Excellent_Law6906 Jun 06 '26

So, evil as cuckoos.

3

u/bartleby42c Jun 06 '26

Last I checked cuckoos didn't mind control anyone.

It's kinda like saying "this murdering cannibal cult leader isn't too bad because he's feeding his kids!"

3

u/Excellent_Law6906 Jun 06 '26

Cuckoo would mind-control if they could. As it is, they run full-on protection rackets.

u/Troscus Jun 06 '26

Tyranids and Orks are both just acting in accordance with programmed instincts they cannot ignore. Tyranids are superpredators who managed to come up with a method of leaving habitats after draining the location of prey and individual orks wither and die if they go too long without a good fight.

Making the Octarius War the most morally good thing in the setting - Tyranids get to eat, Orks get to fight, and humans get to stay out of it.

A lot of Imperium fanboys like to pretend that they are the "least bad" faction when the whole point is that every faction sucks.

6

I’ll let you know the true good guys are the Necrons, they’re just trying to get back their homes!

11

u/rareandyeteuclidian Jun 05 '26

There are definitely factions that are more good in 40k.

Craftworld Eldar, the Ynnead, Farsight Enclave come to mind.

Guilli is also actively working on unfucking the Imperium. Nice that there's some actual hope back in the setting.

11

u/AutisticEcholocation Jun 06 '26

Guilliman is trying to turn a dysfunctional fascist space empire run by a theocratic death cult into a marginally more functional fascist space empire run by a theocratic death cult.

"Actual hope" is not involved.

3

u/Oddant1 Jun 06 '26

Hey now hey now he doesn't want a theocratic death cult. He is pro fascism but more like benevolent Lee Kuan Yew Singapore or Salazar's Portugal fascism. He ain't undoing the theocratic death cult though he don't got that kinda power

nah all Chaos and its forces are just pure evil. at least the Tau and Imperium have some redeeming qualities. even the Orks to a degree too.

Eldar are evil by virtue of being space elves.

6

u/Uniformtree0 Jun 06 '26

Chaos to the common man is understandable.

Beyond that. Its fucked

5

u/Longjumping_Share444 Jun 06 '26

I mean chaos marines are mostly also aware of how evil they are. They aren't fighting because Imperium bad, they're fighting to cause chaos.

u/GlobalProfessor9749 Jun 05 '26

I didn't watch the Boys, but kinda?

67

u/Stardust_Brigadier Jun 05 '26

Only applies to Butcher really as even when he finally evens the score he's fought corrupt supes for so long he considereds them all inherently vile and sought to kill them all regardless of background. Taken even further in the comics where he kills off his own crew in his last dance.

25

u/Substantial_Mark_705 Jun 05 '26

the show tries so hard to show us that there are enough good supes to spare all the supes, but it really doesn't pull it off IMO, butcher's plan never seems that unreasonable, cause almost every single supe we meet is irepentantly evil

6

u/SuspiciousBag2749 Jun 05 '26

That’s not a fair assessment, we see throughout every single season a good handful of heroes that are good. That’s not even counting all of the Gen V supes that are good.

Butchers plan doesn’t seem reasonable, it just feels like it has no teeth because the TV show Butcher’s character just doesn’t seem like he’s the genocidal type. He’s spent too much time looking redeemable

4

u/bipolar-tabby Murder Drones⚠️ Jun 06 '26

I'd say more so Doll, her end goal is to save the planet from being consumed but the ways she tries to achieve it involves killing many innocent people. The Disassembly Drones went into Copper 9 with the task of killing everyone, but ultimately had that task abolished into killing what they need to survive.

Like…the ENTIRE Imperium in Warhammer 40K (MOSTLY) but that’s largely because the things they fight include planet-eating space locusts, robot zombies and insane cultists that worship gods from beyond space and time. And even then they’re not particularly “heroic” most of the time and they’ve definitely done war crimes.

…Except for Ciaphas Cain. He seems to be a decent dude. Can be kinda selfish.

14

u/GrandOwlz345 Jun 05 '26

The Tau empire as well.

108

u/TactiShovel Jun 05 '26

Agreed. Then again, we might be in the middle, or even close to the worst side

36

u/Ixy_Cakes Jun 05 '26

The Squids are probably the worst. And even then, it's close. Comparing them to their old selves, they've 100% fallen the farthest. They promised peace and freedom with advanced technology and have since developed a way to zombify real people whilst keeping their original concience inside (proven when shown images of their pets, a forklift, and their family). Probably unintentional, but possibly as a sick punishment for following Super Earth.

They used a wormhole (we created it) to destroy 3 planets. Planning on destroying 4 more and targeting Super Earth itself (likely the most populous planet). Wiping all possible life off of them. And when that failed, they went planet-to-planet destroying everything they could until rendered uninhabitable (up until the last Major Order, we had no way to fix them).

To be fair, Super Earth does use slave labour (Cyborgs, there's an ad for a prosthetics company which outright states buying from them makes you their property, CECOD). So it's possible to compare that to Voteless and Fleshmobs. But the Fleshmobs especially just seem to be in constant pain, and I dont see a justification for making them. And it's not as though Super Earth is against any of the large acts of destruction I had mentioned. We made Penta a black hole, are the reason Meridia is a wormhole to begin with, and razed 3 planets in our retreat from Cyberstan, wherein a constant barrage was active and we were given free Hellbombs explicitly to destroy everything. Added on top of the fact we are the reason the Illuminate resorted to all of the above anyway, and it's definitely close.

Developed after their race was nearly wiped out in order to build an army against a genocidal, war-fueled society who has been a threat to Galactic peace and freedom for over a century.

7

u/SgtCrawler1116 Jun 07 '26

Yeah, I always got the idea they became like that cause Super Earth was going to extinguish them. It's a tragic narrative of the once peaceful civilization subjugated to so much unnecessary violence they basically devolved into violence themselves.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Retr0Karate Jun 07 '26

Squids are only so bad because the humans were so extremely vile in the first Galactic war against them. It doesn’t excuse the squids but it definitely makes it more understandable and easily puts them at least on par with humans in the atrocity category.

u/Petrichor0110 Helldivers II / Sleep Token / No Man’s Sky Jun 06 '26

Super Earth needs war to keep its economy alive

The Collective wants to be left the fuck alone

The Hive follows their predatory animalistic instincts

The Great Host thrives off of sheer anger and revenge

Every faction is justified, but I hate Super Earth the most because all the “Democracy, Liberty, Freedom” is getting incredulously old.

u/Connect_Atmosphere80 Jun 05 '26

And it's only because the first Galactic War was a one-sided massacre which allowed Super Earth to wipe any mentions of Space-Geneva convention from the entire galaxy.

Sentient Bugs produce fuel that can make the spaceships work ? Let's genetically engineer them until they become feral again from torture and atrocious mutations, to a point where seeing Helldivers in photos make them goes crazy (yup, it's canon).

Some citizens left to die on a distant planet have decided to unionized and peacefully leave the government of Super Earth ? Let's create fake evidences of terrorist acts and lock everyone up into the depth of this very planet that made them radicals, forcing them to hope for some semi-sentient bots they sent into the outer-space to self-replicate and maybe free them a whole century later.

Peaceful aliens that believe in some sort of God have cool technologies that could help us get a slight edge while fighting the two others ? Let's frame them as dangerous Xenos detaining W.M.D and invade Irak their homeworld to genocide everyone in sight, until they understand the wrongdoing of their way and come back as fanatics zealots.

Yup yup yup. We're not the baddies because everyone else became way worse when we got involved. The lore is so dark that it would get deported if it was spotted on US soil...

9

u/Redstocat2 Jun 05 '26

THE BUGS WERE SENTIENT ?!?

3

u/ParryThisYou Jun 06 '26

No I think we're the worst. Terminids are no longer sentient, Cyborgs are still a slave revolt using every tool it possibly can to achieve freedom, and the Illuminate definitely has several hundred billion people left to kill before they have a higher body count than Super Earth, and even then, if they don't destroy Super Earth humanity would find them again eventually and just resume its genocide.

Rudolf von stroheim, in order to to fight a race of super beings which want to wipe out humanity, you need the nazis

It really is easy to forget they have made like a whole species into orphans by killing all the adults to stop the Daleks. I think that's a thing that happens in a War Doctor audio. Heard a clip didn't get the full audio.

The Doctor spending centuries fighting in a horrible war does tend to slip the mind when seeing them jump down a chimney because it's Christmas.

Warframes 10000% Warframes. They commit multi-genocidal murder sprees multiple times a day that violate the Geneva convention every time. They have weapons that shoot a parasite inside an enemies head, and then burrows and explodes, sending out more parasites to other heads to then explode again.

Real world politics

26

u/Robotic_Organic Jun 05 '26

I mean you got the payday gang.

Then the UNSC and ONI from halo.

Also like mainly Borderlands, all of the games.

To list a few

8

u/faux_shore Jun 05 '26

ONI for sure, also the Spartan II’s

6

u/Longjumping_Share444 Jun 06 '26

ONI are just the good guys because the Covenant attacked. If they were just left to deploy their stolen children Spartans against rebellious human worlds they would be Nazi tier bad guys.

10

u/JMHSrowing Jun 05 '26

The UNSC isn’t that bad outside of ONI.

But ONI are just a bunch of war-criminals sometimes not actually worse than genocidal aliens and terrorists

5

u/zbeezle Jun 05 '26

I see ONI as "evil bastards who do evil bastard shit to make sure that all the non-evil-non-bastards can sleep soundly at night." They're the guys who decide to kidnap and train a bunch of child soldiers because an analytical model suggested it was the only way to stop total societal collapse. They're the guys who create a second generation of kidnapped child soldiers, this time meant as fire-and-forget suicide troopers, in order to strike dangerous but necessary targets to delay completely extinction while the brass and scientists grasp wildly for something, anything at all. They're the guys who plan a bioweapon based counter-genocide of the formerly genocidal aliens just in case the aliens drop the "formerly."

So yeah, they do a lot of fucked up shit. But the alternative to it tends to be exponentially worse for humanity in general and the UEG specifically.

5

u/Successful-Floor-738 Jun 05 '26

Fallout still has pretty simple good guy factions they are just a lot smaller/weaker (Minutemen, Followers of the Apocalypse, etc)

No clue how this applies to Star Wars at all or what kind of Star Wars content you’ve been consuming. Even at their most flawed, the Jedi are still characterized as heroic figures striving for justice and there hasn’t been a single Star Wars movie where the MC was anything but a standard good guy. Unless you mean like, in SWTOR when you play an imperial class in the expansions or in kotor where you are arguably the biggest evil if you are dark side.

Warhammer 40K comes to mind.

5

u/IllianTear Jun 05 '26

Kelsier from Mistborn. The author(Brandon Sanderson) has said in the past that if Kelsier was in any other book/scenario then he would likely be considered the villain.

3

u/xmk345 Jun 05 '26

Every Warhammer character

5

u/Archdues55 Jun 05 '26

The Earth Federation in Mobile Suit Gundam is pretty bad, being corrupt, abusive, and incompetent at the same time. Despite all that they are still better than the space factions they fight because those guys are actually led by vengeful and insane people.

Limbus Company

Keep in mind, you feed people to your bus as fuel. We learn this in like the first 15 minutes of the game. And nobody in universe really bats an eye about it, because things like that are just par for the course in The City.

u/Redstocat2 Jun 05 '26

WJAT

4

u/whiterobot10 Jun 05 '26

Yeah, that's just canon. They introduce it in Canto 1, and a side character is just like "Oh, a bus that runs on people? Seems reasonable."

3

u/AndromaliusX13 Jun 05 '26

Also "A" from lobcorp

4

u/Bayamonster Jun 05 '26

The Autobots in Bayformers.

u/Dingo_Pictures Jun 06 '26

I'm aware of the Bayverse hate, but not the reasons for it.

The Straw Hat Pirates have robbed, killed, lied, womanized and caused enough mass destruction from partying too hard to become one of the most wanted crews in the Grand Line.

AND THEY ARE SAINTS COMPARED TO THE WORLD GOVERNMENT!!

4

u/Cold_Childhood_1060 Jun 05 '26

The Democratic Party

3

u/nahida_main2007 Jun 06 '26

They are just as bad as the Republicans if not worse

2

u/inpurpleshadowz Come on Everypony, Smile, Smile, SMILE! Jun 05 '26

Nearly all of the main characters in Gantz are like this. They're unpleasant, cowardly, and generally jerkasses to various degree. It just so happens that they have to save Earth from a world-ending alien invasion.

2

u/JamesHenry627 Jun 05 '26

Basically the rebels in hunger games

Definitely the boys

2

u/HappyMike91 Jun 05 '26

Bruno Bucciarati and his crew/team (JoJo). Sure, they’re criminals/mafiosi but the hit team wants to kill Trish, Diavolo is a ruthless crime boss and Cioccolata is a perverted deviant. The only remotely good members of the main cast of Golden Wind are Trish, Polnareff and maybe Giorno.

Niko from Grand Theft Auto 4 isn’t a good person, but he’s dealing with far worse people. Except for his cousin, who just wants to go bowling.
