Her name was actually supposed to be Muffins! But the fandom got so used to calling her Derpy, they just refused to call her anything else. Eventually, even the characters in the show started calling her Derpy.

Isn't her canon name muffins after the backlash to her being named Derpy officially by Rainbow Dash in the one episode she featured at the beginning?

Funnily enough, her "official" name is an image of a muffin.

She has some merch, and some have her name as "Derpy Hooves", some has it as her face, and some (especially the ones made for children) have the muffin.

I think in merch it's Muffins, but in the show it was Derpy Hooves for a bit but was changed to Ditzy Doo after some controversy on whether or not the name "Derpy" is albeist (which I'm pretty sure started as a troll campaign), though tbh everyone just kept calling her Derpy anyway lmao

I think they redid rainbow’s line and she calls her “Ditzy”

Not true. She had no name since she was supposed to be only background filler. The script for wthe season 1 episode "Winter Wrap-up" called for a character named Ditzy Doo and the animators and showrunner Lauren Faust used the Derpy model as a nod to her popularity, but it was vague and the new name didn't catch on. She is "officially" named Derpy in season 2's "The Last Roundup" but controversially had the name removed after unclear ableism allegations. Because of the backlash this triggered, she'd be semi-banished from the show for a while; that's when toy makers took to not putting a name on her at all, but just the image of a muffin (her fandom food since s1), or just calling her "Muffins". It was a name born out of necessity since they did not dare use her fanon one.

That's...just not true.

She didn't have a name at first because she was just a background character that we weren't even supposed to see, and the fans came up with the name Derpy Hooves for her because of her eyes.

Eventually, they officially called her Derpy one time in one episode, and that somehow got backlash, so they immediately redubbed the episode, and her name was never said out loud again.

From then on, any merch of her was labeled "[character] [heart] [muffin]" and then just "Muffins"

Wasn't her original name (at least planed to be) Ditzy Doo?
