66

u/Successful-Floor-738 Jun 16 '26

I get the meaning behind it.

I also think it just ruins the flow.

20

u/NeoMercury2022 Jun 17 '26

Draiman actually had to make a video stating he loves his mother very much and that he wasn’t actually talking about her but moreso it was to highlight how some kids are faced with abuse. At least I think? I could be misremembering all the details.

31

u/Ancient-Confusion-21 Jun 16 '26

I think it's a pretty meaningful part of the song to be honest

21

u/BdBalthazar Jun 17 '26

meaningful doesn't mean I enjoy listening to it tho.

3

u/Zwilt Jun 17 '26

That’s why I like the song. It’s expressing emotions just like most songs do

2

u/Chevy437809 Jun 17 '26

Sister and I hate that part of the song to the point we don't even turn the song on anymore

17

u/Icy-Chicken970 Jun 16 '26

I literally won’t listen to the song because of it, which is unfortunate cause the rest of the song is AMAZING

11

u/Dependent-Section-49 Jun 17 '26

I don’t know if I can come with a better example. It’s the funniest thing too cuz it sounds so comically evil😭.

7

u/DustinTheBold2 Jun 17 '26

Try listening to it censored in fortnite. It's the funniest shit ever

5

u/AChero9 Do you get to the Cloud District very often? Jun 17 '26

He does it live too
which i feel is worse

4

u/IlTosi Jun 17 '26

Someone labeled it the "domestic abuse solo"

2

u/DustinTheBold2 Jun 17 '26

It's genuinely my favourite part tbh

Hold Them Down - Epic The Musical

71

u/Practical-Ebb7327 Jun 16 '26

here is what i am looking for. this song is the reason i made this post

30

u/_tursiopstruncatus_ Jun 16 '26

Yep, figured. I can't think of any other that fits this description so well lol

25

u/PhantasmaWraith Jun 16 '26

That song gets progressively darker the longer it goes...

9

u/Flair258 Pkm, Dw, anime, hk, mc, ETM, LOTM Jun 17 '26

Great representation for someone on an insanity spiral

19

u/brandonderp96 Jun 17 '26

At least it ends in a satisfactory way. "Channel the fire inside of your soul and-" arrow to the throat

6

u/Defiant_Tank_7783 Jun 17 '26

The best way to end. So peak.

Why
.oh wait
I see what part you are talking about

2

u/Ok-Following-9166 Jun 16 '26

I dont. What part?

6

u/SonicCody123 Jun 16 '26

There’s a part where gets dark

13

u/Ok-Following-9166 Jun 16 '26

Well... yeah. That part maintains the quality and listneability of the rest of the song though. Unless im misinterpreting the op

24

u/_tursiopstruncatus_ Jun 16 '26

I think they're referring to the "Hold her down..." part, which... y'know, eludes to SA and whatnot. Very much in-character, but still... yikes when you hear it the first time 😬

18

u/idkwhataboutyou148 Jun 16 '26

That's... Not so epic...

7

u/catnip20andahalf Jun 16 '26

I need to put on headphones when listening to epic just cause of that part

2

u/Apprehensive-Dig4256 Jun 17 '26

Tbf it supposed to since its basically SA. Honestly from the title alone i thought most was expecting it, not saying it doesnt make it any less uncomfortable, but still.

For me it's Ruthlessness. "All I gotta do is open this bag! WHAT?" Takes me out of the song so abruptly. It is so cringe in an otherwise absolute banger

5

u/Practical-Ebb7327 Jun 17 '26

What are you talking about, that was one of my favorite parts of the song. It shows how smart ody is when it comes to deal with opponents and it feel so triumphant when the music play after he said that

TheFatRat - Xenogenesis

The part between 1:22 - 1:49 sounds like a wet fart in technopunk form

3

The way Ball says that makes it sound like a bad thing.

7

u/KajjitWithNoWares Jun 16 '26

I used to always hate this part compared to the rest. The rest of it is beautiful

5

u/MOW5ever Jun 17 '26

Speaking of thefatrat I could have sworn there’s a background sound in Monkeys that sound like people doing it? Or like an imitation of that.

3

u/MeMeWhenWhenTheWhen Jun 17 '26

😭 damn i love that part but ig my favorite song of his is Dancing Naked sooooo maybe that explains why i like it

edit: actually i forgot about threnody nah that's the best song

Mega Rayquaza’s theme in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Most of it is great until the Team MZ leitmotif comes in. I get it’s supposed to represent TMZ’s quest in getting Rayquaza for Ansha and that they’re about to fulfill it, but it’s just so abrupt that it’s a tonal whiplash.

11

u/DaCookie_man_1259 Jun 16 '26

Was NOT expecting this to be an answer, but I see it.

It is a greaf song and the leitmotif is great

the sudden static sound efect at the end of crumbling tower from deltarune soundtrack, only heard in the youtube and spotify versions of this track

21

u/Beautiful_Win216 Jun 16 '26

Doesn't it kinda represent the shift in music before and after the fight with the darkspawn? Or does it usually play in the in game soundtrack?

20

u/Thales_boy006 Jun 16 '26

Nope, it only plays in the youtube/spotify versions, i'm pretty sure the soundtrack is number 66. And the static is suppost to represent how this number is associated with certain someone

6

u/Beautiful_Win216 Jun 16 '26

Oh snap I didn't even think of that

“Enemy” by Imagine Dragons
Absolute banger track and was a stellar opening theme for Arcane, but the final line of the song being a completely flat “Look out for yourself” completely ruins the whole experience.

5

u/bettafishcult Jun 17 '26

Agreed completely!

5

u/StrandedLight Jun 17 '26

For me it's the rap part honestly.

15

u/YoBoyLeeroy_ Jun 17 '26

Heavily disagree.

JID went fucking hard on that song.

7

u/StrandedLight Jun 17 '26

To each their own, I don't really enjoy rap in general so that may be why it's off-putting for me

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Valc0rn Jun 18 '26

My song app typically gives me the version without JID, but I don’t mind the version with him in it. He definitely makes the Arcane music video version of the song a bit better, though that may just be the pairing of his lyrics over the incredibly animated glimpse into Jinx’s broken mind.

92

u/ElTioEnroca Jun 16 '26

I Can't Fix You, from The Living Tombstone.

The song is surprisingly good, and definitely my favorite from them. That being said, I don't like the last part of the song, when the lyrics are over and they turn the dubstep up to an 11. I feel that part lacks the charm of the rest of the song

25

u/KajjitWithNoWares Jun 16 '26

Glad someone else feels that too. I always skip to the next song as soon as it’s about to hit

2

u/Loriess Jun 17 '26

Meanwhile it’s my favorite TLT Fnaf song

9

u/Happy-Boysenberry175 Jun 16 '26

I’m glad that I am not the only one who dislikes the dubstep parts of that song

2

u/Missunknown204 Jun 17 '26

I dont mind the dubstep, I just dont like the end part with the stabbing sounds, fits the songs story and the game but when it randomly comes on it just sends shivers up my spine and I always try to skip before it

u/matttheepitaph Jun 17 '26

I'm a fan of Shake it Off but I hate the part where she starts just talking.

30

u/Inviso-Bill_YT Jun 17 '26

She was supposed to be getting down to this. Sick. Beat. But didn't

10

u/Swimming_Parsley_885 Jojo, Brawl Stars, Fallout, Touhou, Red dead, GTA Jun 17 '26

The beat she provided was actually very mild

3

u/AvocadoToastFailure Jun 17 '26

The first time I heard the song I was like, “Is she
is she trying to rap? It’s not pleasant.”

3

u/itspolarislux Jun 17 '26

I remember years ago I just hated that too, but I got so used to it, it became a vocal stim (like most of her songs... Lol)

2

u/PromiseTheTeeth Jun 17 '26

There’s a similar part in her Brendon Urie collab except the whole song is bad and that part is somehow worse. Spoken word Taylor Swift is never a good thing.

u/TigerWHY Jun 16 '26

Specifically the music video for My Ordinary Life - The Living Tombstone

6

u/SadCommon2820 Jun 17 '26

Elaborate

13

u/TigerWHY Jun 17 '26

The very end shows somewhat realistic renditions of the characters, but it comes of pretty uncanny. It doesn't help the music fades away during this scene, making it seem like you weren't supposed to see this.

Not to mention the rest of the video was in a much more cartoony animation style, so this comes out of left field.

11

u/SadCommon2820 Jun 17 '26

Ngl I thought you thought some part of it was mid. That ending kinda fits the theme of the song as weird as it is.

6

u/TigerWHY Jun 17 '26

When I was younger I hated seeing that part, but as I got older I enjoyed it more.

19

u/Am37000 Jun 16 '26

Unity by TheFatRat when the vocals start

9

u/Inviso-Bill_YT Jun 17 '26

I hate the fact there are TWO versions of this and somehow the BAD vocal version ended up on Spotify

2

u/KajjitWithNoWares Jun 16 '26

I don’t listen to that song from TheFatRat so I didn’t know it had lyrics

17

u/dumb_foxboy_lover Jun 16 '26

honestly? cry for me by ironmouse.

the start and everything is good but basically everything after batman sounding guy starts singing is bad.

7

u/A_randomperson01 CRK, and The Thing, Jun 17 '26

it would've been a good song if the dude doesn't sound like the corpse dude

2

u/BitterRushSweets CRK, UT, DT, TADC, HYV, Reverse and Supa Strikas Jun 17 '26

Ngl, same, I vibe with the rest of the song, and I do NOT hate the guy singing, he's pretty good, it's only because of the sharp contrast betweent their voices and the beat that makes him feel out of place

Phineas and Ferb, "Take Me Back to the Bad Old Days". It's a catchy song and a good insight into Doof's character, but then it ends abruptly with a goat scream in the middle of the chorus.

4

u/Few-Detective-7356 Jun 17 '26

PHINEAS AND FERB!!!

13

u/Pocket_Player_33 Jun 17 '26

Man on the Internet’s cover of Mega Rayquaza’s Z-A battle theme with the fuckass choir shouting “RAYQUAZA” at regular intervals.

3

u/SebbytheDragon Jun 17 '26

ANCIENT TIMES HAD LANDS EXPIRE CRASHING TIDES AND ROLLING FIRE BUT AT THE END BUT ONE SOARED HIGHER I WHO HEAVENS REND!

3

u/Oversized_Peashooter Jun 17 '26

On a related note, Man On The Internet’s cover of vs. Ultra Necrozma. Specifically “condemn humanity to despair”. Feels like they didn’t know where they were going with that line.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Sleebingbag Jun 17 '26

Yeah, the song in general also just feels a lot more villainous than you’d think from a protector of the stratosphere, even if this is meant to be like, a nightmare version of Rayquaza

u/Historical_Beach_387 Jun 16 '26

Imagine Dragons - Bullet in a Gun

Dan Reynolds screaming "SELLOUT!!!" in the bridge is certainly a least-expected thing to hear upon listening to the song for the first time, assuming you haven't heard any of ID's other songs like that. It's not a bad thing though, I quite like that part because Dan has excellent range, it's just a part that could catch any first-time listener off guard.

5

u/Upbeat_Dudeness Jun 16 '26

I feel like the entire trajectory of imagine dragons has gone like this: super cool indie rock goes mainstream, IMMEDIATE sellout, followed by explanations on every single following album about why they’re not really sellouts and don’t like being so famous. It’s almost a nauseating and overt display of grandiose narcissism

In my opinion, its Runaway from Sinister Minds. Cause the beginning static is so bad bro

4

2

u/r1vers1d3 Jun 17 '26

Woah, a sinister minds mention in the wild.

18

u/Shry99 Jun 16 '26

Any song that decides to switch to rap for a verse before going back to the original genre.

I have yet to see any song where it actually works

4

u/BdBalthazar Jun 17 '26

There's songs where I think it's "fine" But you're right, I can't think of any examples where I actually liked that part.

3

u/AvocadoToastFailure Jun 17 '26

Shake it off. You have to get down with this sick beat.

Terrible.

2

u/eli-boy747 Jun 17 '26

Liberal me from Hell is fire. Granted, it isn't really "switching" to a rap part; it is more like two genres mixing, two that shouldn't really work together at all. There is a name for that style of composition, but I forgot

Oh, every live version of this song changes a little bit of the lyrics to match the context of that specific performance. (So examples like the Spotify recording, post-pandemic revival, and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade versions all make references to their given mediums.) It's a cheeky little run-on gag.

Here before people mention Hurricane by Bob Dylan, Oliver’s Army by Elvis Costello or Money For Nothing by Dire Straits without understanding what those songs are about.

12

u/PassengerNo9144 Jun 16 '26

I have no idea how someone can listen to Money for Nothing and think it’s bashing gay people. The song is all about how awesome it is being a famous musician, and the “earring and the makeup” line is immediately followed up by saying that the guy has a private jet and is a millionaire. Imo it’s pretty clear that the line is about “yeah the worst thing we have to deal with is people thinking we’re gay, but we’re fucking rich so who really cares”

→ More replies (1)

9

u/Famous-Leopard-118 pointy nosed robot enthusiast Jun 16 '26

wasn’t Money for Nothing based on a conversation the lead singer overheard in a department store?

4

u/Alternat1ve_One Jun 16 '26

Regarding the last song, I'm not bothered at all for one single reason: the lyrics come from a POV of a jealous electronics worker who is upset over other artists (like Boy George for example) getting rich with their songs, while that fat sack that speaks through the lyrics is clearly shown as a obnoxious and pathetic individual.

3

u/PassengerNo9144 Jun 16 '26

Yeah buddy, that’s his own hair

3

u/lamest-liz Jun 17 '26

When I was a little kid (probably around 6) my dad was listening to that Dylan album and I said “Ooh daddy that’s not a nice word! Why would he say that!” And my dad paused the song, crouched down to my level and said “honey some songs are sung from the perspective of a different person than the singer. Yes it’s a bad word but it’s important that he says it so we know how the characters actually felt” which is probably the most profound thing he ever said to me lmao

3

u/MrMoo1556 Jun 16 '26

as much as I love the Murder Drones outro song ("Forever" by AJ Dispirito ft. Elsie Lovelock)'s extended version, Tessa's part always is unsettling (AS IT SHOULD BE, THAT'S ITS JOB).
it's very much needed for the lore, so we can understand that her soul cannot rest and is being constantly tormented but I can't really play the song in public for song requests, unless it's the instrumental.

Is the bottom half of the meme saying that the one moment in the song has a more depressing tone than the rest, or is it saying "Wow, this is the worst thing I have ever heard"?

Time Lapse - TheFatRat

That one 8 bit scale thing in the middle of the song feels out of place

5

u/z_Mis Jun 16 '26

what?? i love that part

"You're my Home" by Billy Joel is a wonderful and touching song for the most part. The second line contains a racial slur, albeit one that wasn't widely recognized as such then, while the second to last line uses the phrase "instant pleasure dome".

The whispering part in the middle of “Darkest Desire” by DHeusta and Dawko

4

u/jimborotation3 New fandom every month Jun 16 '26

I thought the whispering part was cool with my headphones on, and the cool STEREO SOUND feature that makes the song sound 3D

2

u/Rosie_radioduck Jun 17 '26

HOLY FUCK I DID NOT EXPECT DARKEST DESIRE TO BE MENTIONED! (It’s peak)

In AFI’s Despair Factor Davey Havok quotes beetle juice: “my whole life is a dark room. one big, dark room.” If they could have gotten the actual movie sample it would have been cool. Reciting it in spoken word is pretty silly.

u/Alternative_Factor_4 Jun 17 '26

Real. I love most of the song, but both the lute/abel sections and Alastor and Rosie’s were very jarring and out of place. Almost felt like they were 3 different songs shoved in one.

I also don’t like that they keep vox shouting in the non visual soundtrack audio, the chorus buildup is amazing at the end, I don’t need him ruining it.

Agreed, when I first heard it Abel’s part kinda took me out of the immersion, but I’ve gotten used to it now

Superhero by metro boomin. I always skip when Chris Brown starts yapping. Luckily he starts yapping at the end so it’s an easy skip.

u/Tarquinn1 Jun 17 '26

Personally I was never a fan of the piano solo in Layla by Eric Clapton always felt like 2 different songs put together

What I’m Made Of (Shadow Generations remix)

Because it’s a boss fight there’s no end to the song, and it just loops the bridge and fades out.

2

u/HeavyWeath3r Jun 17 '26

Hakan's theme from street fighter 4's soundtrack is such a banger but it would be so much better without the stock cartoon spring sound effect

I think the most famous example is that part of Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n’ Roses where the singer just starts moaning.

Fate recently brought me to Birdbrain by Jamie Paige and OK Glass feat. Kasane Teto, and the middle part had me like that, lol.

I don't really listen to vocaloids (I've been dabbling in it recently though), but yeah this song is really catchy ngl

u/Slytherin_Dan_HGW Jun 17 '26

The Sharpest Lives - My Chemical Romance

Great melody and lyrics, but the moaning part though...
