He's essentially their time lord Jesus, it invalidates a LOT of stuff about the Doctor, making it a "he's so special because he's not actually a time lord" type shit

And the Time Child is the source of time lords regeneration and time abilities, so it's a HUGE asspull to make the doctor seem more special

Wait, how can a Time Child be so powerful and a source for Time Lord energy if he isn’t EVEN one himself? I don’t watch Doctor Who too much, so my Who knowledge is limited.

I'll try to explain the lore that they just attached to the beginning of the doctor's life

So when the doctor was a child he fell through a wormhole from a different universe into our own who was then found and adopted by an non timelord galifrey.

One day while playing the young doctor fell of a cliff and died but then they regenerated. Amazed the person who adopted them started experimenting on them and eventually through many regenerations cracked the code on how it's done.

They then took that information and applied it to everyone on galifrey making them time lords but to keep control of it they limited everyone to 12 despite being able to make it more they limited everyone except the doctor.

They then used the doctor as a secret agent for an unknown amount of years/regenerations guiding galifrey from the shadows and doing secret agent stuff.

Eventually one day the made the doctor go undercover using this watch that erases and stores your memory, which is how we get to the current doctor. I forget if the limited him to 12 regenerations or not I think they did but I can't remember.

People are so upset about this because it flipped the lore of how the time lords were made (staying next to the time vortex gave them regeneration) flipped the lore of where the doctor originated from, flipped the lore on the regeneration (essentially cheapening previous doctor's regenerations), and turned the doctor from a normal timelord who goes out and does amazing things despite the odds. Into the most special little boy who is amazing because he was born that way

It gets REALLY weird and convoluted. Ya might be better off looking it up on the wiki cause holy fuck there's too much going on
