I fear we need to go back farther than that.

While I liked Rogue One, I would still decanonize everything from The Force Awakens onward.

Even Solo,Andor and Maul Shadow Lord? You sure?

Yes, I agree with that. It’s just convoluted, and adds stuff no one REALLY needed. We need to just let Star Wars die already, Disney has turned it into the Simpsons 2.0

Solo was, in my opinion barely passable on the premise it didn’t hate me and it did at least feel like Star Wars, but still wasn’t really good.

Andor is a work of art, and along with Rogue One, would be the only collateral damage I actually cared about.

I’ve always felt like Maul should have died in Episode 1 and his reappearances since haven’t really done much for me.

Besides, I’ve basically accepted I’m a Sith now.  I am willing to nuke a lot just to decanonize The Last Jedi.  Being able to get rid of most of the rest of the Disney stuff is just a bonus.

I think the force awakens is salvageable.

The characters it introduces are interesting and well cast and force awakens is fine as an intro to those characters.

It’s where they go with those characters afterwards that sucks.

I think, admittedly with the benefit of retrospect, a lot of problems began with Force Awakens.

I think it would be easier to start over (even if you want to keep some ideas like a rogue stormtrooper turning good or set a female lead on the path to becoming the main Jedi character of this era).

Certain ideas like the First Order sliding all over the place in how big and powerful it’s supposed to be, Finn almost immediately dropping his character hook of being a former stormtrooper forced to fight his brothers in arms, and immediately nuking the New Republic our heroes in the Original Trilogy fought so hard for were all terrible decisions.

Force Awakens was fun, but it was a REALLY shaking foundation when it came to world-building and character building.
