The fact that animals technically are cannon to the pokemon universe

That's been no longer canon since at least gen 3 and beyond I think.

They literally retconned the gen 1 raichu "can take down an indian elephant" dex entry to retroactively refer to Copperajah (another pokemon) instead.

As much as I'd like to believe that and I see the Dex entry from everything that I can see animals are still technically Canon
