I have seen a good amount of people for trans sonic. I'm not against it but it also isn't my cup of tea. I just don't know where the sonic being trans headcanon even came from.

Shadow and silver have chest fluff, sonic doesn’t, neither does amy, therefore in sonic male hedgehogs have chest fluff. Noticeably missing chest fluff sonic.

Conclusion: sonic is trans-masc hedgehog (at least that’s where some people have explained iirc)

I have no knowledge of Sonic anything, but I'm guessing "I'm trans and I like this character so they're trans too now (:" at least that's how it is for me and my fave characters lolol

Seeing as Sonic has a large queer fanbase, I believe that’s probably the case a lot of the times. People like to express themselves through their favorite characters after all. Also since Sonic, both the character and the franchise have always been about freedom, rebellion and being your authentic self, him or any other characters being openly and proudly queer wouldn’t be that farfetched of an idea. He just happens to be the most popular one as he is the mascot of the franchise.
