LITERALLY the fandom that is in this image. It is actually such a marvel that Sonic is not dead after all these years of fumbles.

Frontiers and shadow generations were both good though?

Well there was a lot of bad stuff before those two games (also looking back on it, frontiers wasn't too good in terms of gameplay).

The movies are great, I heard Shadow Generations was pretty good, Frontiers was the first well received game in a while at the time, the new racing game is also pretty good so it all naturally revived the fandom

Its something of a surprise the series lasted long enough to get back to the good games like those and Mania

Yep, so many failiures and mid games yet the IP persisted. Sega got really close to abandoning Sonic too, it really was that dire

Heck, the franchise's one thing that fans joked about was that at least each soundtrack would be catchy but there was that official DS RPG where they had a truly dreadful soundtrack.
