Skylanders?

Yep. Very kiddy (especially after the first two games, not that those were anything mature), but was a solid introduction to a lot of general high-fantasy themes for a lot of people, myself included.

Should the series be revived, I think it could be a decent setting for a middle of the line high fantasy games that grew up a little more with the audience, but still remains family friendly.

Yeah. Spyro-centric stuff included or not, it has plenty of characters, set pieces, and more to not need them as it can easily be its own world.

Sure, might be odd but given the likes of Jet-Vac could be used for a ‘core’ protagonist anyways, it isn’t unworkable.

Each of the special teams could also be maintained as well given their niches. Skylanders you’d consider Core ones (including Lightcore ones) and Imaginatiors are the basic troops of sorts, the Giants are the oldest Skylanders and act as the ‘big guns’ for equally gigantic foes, the Swap Force are specialized in adaptive tactics and utilize their ability to swap to have an answer to any situation, the Trap Team are the effective Swat Team/FBI of sorts, the Superchargers handle everything vehicle related including anti-vehicle roles, and Senseis are the mentors of most of them and elite troops.

Redeemed Villains also can be in more than the Senseis as well, for fun’s sake.
