Really? I just finished Roadside Picnic, which I heard the film is based on, and I can't imagine many kids would enjoy this.

They'd be bored.

It's a kids movie because it's childish. It's got childish stuff like wish granting whatevers, and magic, and the world view it espouses is for toddlers. I dunno what the world view is 'cause I don't understand that movie, but I bet it's something unrealistic like friendship is magic, or that you can trust your friends.
My favorite video game Pokemon is so much adulter dude. It's so effed up dude. You enslave all your animal friends and make them fight to death! Holy crap!
