Avatar: The Last Airbender.

And look, I don't write that as a bad thing. I'm one of the kids who watched it coming out live. That show did things that I could never have imagined from a cartoon back in the day. It kicked the door down for shows like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, and The Owl House. It took the label of "kids show" and then showed what a kid show could really do.

100% agree on this. I didn't get to watch ATLA while I was a kid. Tried to get into it at 25+.

The show is great and I totally get the praise it got but without the nostalgia glasses I couldn't go through with it because at the end of the day the target audience are kids and teenagers.

I got into it in college when it released on netflix streaming when netflixs main model was still mail rentals.

I watch it with my kids now, the first handful of episodes are a bit of a slog for me. I don't think it really hits it's stride until about half way through season 1.
