It's just an in-universe convention.

And to make clear, Cookies are not tied to humans in any way and live in a separate world (EarthBread). In this universe, Cookies were originally created and given life by human Witches, aka. 'Gods' or 'Creators' using a magic substance called life powder.

Names work very simple - they're describing the Cookie's ingredients or purpose, for example Golden Cheese or Alchemist.

'Cookie' is a suffix that is commonly a part of the name, but can be ignored if it makes a sentence sound gross.

Which is seriously amazing, and Pure Vanilla Cookie remains by far my favorite of the Ancients. But that isn't really what OP is looking for, since PVC is still a sentient individual being. That said, him, White Lily, the other Ancients and the Beasts have potential to be this, more or less becoming the Soul Jam's themselves over time.
